Uniform Alterations Bay Area?
Dear All,
Any recommendations for a place to do ASU alterations in the Bay area? Thanks! Edit to update: Appreciate all the help - Went with Courtesy Cleaners in Mountain View - they used to be inside Moffett years ago. Owner is Army prior service and knows all the regs for multiple branches. Very professional. Last edited by Yute; 08-11-2021 at 12:52 PM.. |

I might try Summit Uniform in San Jose.
I've bought stuff there, off the rack pants and had it tailored to fit me before I walked out the door. I don't know how they would do for an ASU, but would expect them to understand the importance of uniform fitting more than any random tailor. I would certainly trust them with putting on stripes because they do that all the time for law enforcement.

Oh Defense Language Institute as well, multi service TRADOC facility so they know all the services. I've had them do NCO ASU rank, service and overseas stipe, OPCs sew on patches, hat rank, Officer shoulder board tabs, and ASU branch color cuffs and well as service cap color band.
My instructions were never more than: "please sew this on"

These folks effed up my ASU's, sleeves too long and didn't tailor the jacket correctly. YMMV. I went to Cassara's men's shop in Dublin, near Camp Parks, and they were spot on and understood the uniform regs.

I would NOT recommend Dee Bee's in Alameda. Their tailor quality has definitely gone downhill with devices, and their thinmount ribbon devices are sloppy with the glue showing.
