Is it time yet? I picked up a new 10x10 eazy up at Big 5 today. I've been procrastinating buying due to the price, but I'm in good with the manager, and he hooked it up! I'm ready now....

I think I will drive up Friday and spend the night at a hotel. I got the directions mapped out. I will be driving my truck and can bring 1 or 2 others. Anyone that comes with me needs to be a little flexible, I know I will spend the night, but I will most likely drive back that Sunday Morning. I have 1 easy up and may bring a 2nd one, will see.

Spent most of the day yesterday making targets and target stands for the shoot, also got my little off-road ready because I'm way too lazy to walk past 100 yards.

Yes, we may have to somehow better coordinate the firing line atop the ridge. Most times I have been there we've had like 15-30 people (8-15 trucks) and there was plenty of room. But the ridge starts sloping off as you move further down, making it much less shooter-friendly. We should try to keep each "area" as compact as possible, just so everyone will fit in a single line.
Also, we may (will) run out of parking space up on the ridge. Cars and RVs can't make it up there, clearly (thought there is plenty of parking below the ridge), but then add the easy-ups, BBQs, etc...
Gonna be a bit of a squeeze, methinks.

So, can my little BMW z3 coupe that is lowered with low profile tires and 18" rims can make it safety up to the camping area? or should I try to get another car again like I did @ Gregs? Might make it down

Probably should ask overnighters and RVs to park away from the firing line while those of us just staying for the day should park closer to facilitate easier packing and unpacking.

Good idea.
No prob with the RVs as they can't get up the final hill to the firing line anyways. Nor can passenger cars.
There is a fine, flat, camping-ready area below the ridge, about 75 yards away, right off the road that brings us in.

I am cool going down friday after work but I can't stay at a hotel as I will more then likely have my flatbed trailer with my quad and little mini dirt bike on it so I can't just leave it in a parking lot and expect it to be there in the morning...

Indeed.!!!!!!!

I'll post some instructions for our zombie hunt later on, but in the meantime I would love to have and idea of how many shooters we have for this event.

I really appreciate if everybody attending this shoot can PM me with the following info:

1.- # of shooters.
2.- Type of vehicle ( low profile, truck, motor home, trailer, etc).
3.- Overnight stay??

Thank you

I will be renting a satellite phone for this overnighter. I do not want to be stuck in the desert and have an emergency come up (like an AD) and not be able to contact emergency personnel immediately.

I am working with a few of my customers who have contacts in the satellite phone industry. I know for a fact that the rental cost is fairly low (under $75.00 for a whole week).

I will post the info when I get the final pricing. If anyone is interested in helping offset the cost I accept the following: beef jerky, paper targets, the use of a bolt action rifle (like a Remington Model 700 SPS) and of course ammo.

I can post the phone number of the sat phone prior to the event so that people can give the number to family members to use in case of an emergency.

Let me know if you are interested.

If someone gets hurt out shooting it will be faster to transport them to the nearest town, your talking a half hour if at all to get a med out there.

To the guy with the z3 thing - no you shouldn't drive it out there.

If I get this new sr556 in time I'll be out there at 3am again so if anyone else plans on camping out there don't get freaked out hearing rounds pop off I have a little area out of the way for that.

It will be a new moon / first quarter moon so pretty dark and it's gonna be around 101 or so fyi

Lil tip for the guys with toyhaulers or rvs with an outside shower.Remove the shower head and get a fitting that will will screw into the shower hose and on the opposite end will have a water hose male fitting(believe its a 1/2 inch to 3/4 adapter) .You can then go buy some misters from a hardware store and line them up along the trailer awning and now use the outside shower hose for the misters. You can take the shower head to a local hardware store like ACE hardware and tell the guys there you want to get an adapter with the same threads on the shower head that goes to a waterhose thread.(i can post a pic if needed to show what adapter looks like)

I learned this from one of the guys who used this set up for riding at glamis in the summer time and have done the same for my trailer and camper it works really well. And doesnt really use too much water.you can even take an extra 5 gallons of water if needed.

After discussing certain issues with Mr. Lonewolf today, we had a couple suggestions regarding the site and some ground rules. We know that we are not "running" this shoot, but wanted to propose some basic rules:

(1) All firearms should be made safe before you leave the line, including holstered pistols.

(2) There is a dirt "ramp" leading up from the access road to the ridge where the firing line will be. RVs and passenger cars can't get up there. Once up the ramp, please do not park right at the top, blocking access for everybody else. You need some momentum to get up that slope, and anybody parking right at the top could create a problem for everyone after them.

(3) if you get there early, please set up in a way to minimize your share of the firing line by staging your gear, vehicle, etc. behind your shooting bench or mat (or whatever). We don't know exactly how many people the line will accommodate and want everyone to have some room. If you move as far to the left or right of the ramp as possible when you get there as it will make it easier for everyone to fit. Yeah, it's first come, first pick, but it would be great for everyone to try to accommodate the group.

(4) In the target area, we should probably keep the steel targets at least 100 yards back to minimize the chance of ricochets.

(5) Across the access road is a fairly natural flat area for the RVs and camp sites. It's about 75-100 yards from the firing line.

(6) There should be no alcohol of any kind on the firing line, even if you aren't shooting. There are plenty of other areas to enjoy an adult beverage of your choice.

Mr. Lonewolf and I will have a safety chat before the shoot starts (after a reasonable number of folks are there) just to make sure everybody is on the same page and also ask for some volunteers for certain responsibilities. As a group we can then agree on ceasefire times, etc.

Please make sure to PM him with your headcount!

A Sheriff or Life-Flight helicopter can be on scene in minutes and transport an injured party directly to a trauma center if needed. I've seen severe gunshot wounds before, I'll bring the satellite phone for my own peace of mind.

Also, I have 2 small children at home. I would feel better if they could contact me if there is an emergency on the home-front.

I'd rather be prepared for the worst and expect the best.

But that's just me....

Another thing... There are going to be alot of people there, which means we should all try to be as respectful of others as possible.

So as not to have a repeat of a prior time when there were alot of people at one location, please to not touch or take anything that does not belong to you. If I or someone else has something you need all you have to do in most cases is ask. if you do borrow something please try to return it in the same condition you left it in.

I am sure most people will bring extras of nearly everything to share but just ask first!

I for one will have my quads and my 50 out there (might bring another 50 also) and I will be allowing people I trust (or those who prove their selves to be responsible and trust worthy) to ride and enjoy their selves on it.

#1 rule on my dirt toys if you want to ride them you MUST WEAR GEAR!!!!! The only exception I have ever made was CSA while he was on his own property because in the end he would have been responsible for his self.

I have 1 xl helmet CSA will bring with him, and 2 medium helmets. I have 1 chest protector 2 or 3 pair of gloves and my own boots. but remember I am a girl so I am sure most of these items are too small for most of you!

Please bring a helmet, boots that cover your ankles and some sort of gloves if you plan to ask to borrow the quads or my 50. If I do bring my friends 50 out then I will be the only on allowed to ride that one.

Oh and if you break anything I will be expecting you to pay to fix it (since I do most of my own work that means buying what ever part I need to replace in most cases) just so we are understood!

Default Come and get it..........

As offered.

I've just placed an order for 20 #s of juicy marinated Carne Asada for everybody to enjoy......

I think that will keep us busy for a few mins.....LOL.

At the same time I'll be bringing 50 #s of ice, water, ice tea, sodas, juice, etc. for all the fellow attendees ( courtesy of the LA/OC/IE C3 leaders and CGN moderators)...........

We'll have Calguns printed materials for all the members who needs them and I'm looking forward for the opportunity to talk about our outreach efforts, projects and goals.

My co-worker and I will hit the road at around 5 am coming from WLA; what time are we meeting at the Del Taco, I'm pretty good at following directions but I'd rather follow some one up there.

It depends on how your car is set up. This made it to the parking area just fine.

It did require keeping a close eye out for big rocks and driving up some ramps at an angle. If you're not sure about your Z3, then yes, you might want to use a different one.

And no, I did not attempt to drive up the hill to the top of the ridge. I'm not that insane.

I have an armored steel 14" disk. It has an armored sleeve about 2' long that slides over the plain (unarmored) 5' pole. I secure that just below the disk to protect that pole. At times, the screws loosen and it slip down the pole due to constant hits.

I do not care if others shoot at it, but anything over a 30-06 or any magnum round is not permitted. There have been two incidents where people (not from Calguns thankfully) have shot and damaged both the armored sleeve and non-armored pole by shooting high powered (magnum and larger size caliber ammo).

I will be putting it out at 200yrds. (if the range is that big of course) as it is fairly easy to hit at 100yrds. with iron sights. Please try to hit the disk, not the pole.

I figured it would be easier to post this here rather than try to explain it at the sight. Thanks everyone.

What is the longest distance you can shoot in that area?
