That is one of the advantages of being retired, I don't have to file no stinkin' time off request.

I may drive up there in my car and spend the night in my car. Anybody bringing a laser range finder and a AR front sight post tool?

That's one disadvantage to being up on the chain of command. Getting time off is like pulling teeth. It may be past the deadline for the request too. Than again, I may just have to call in sick. Either that or I'm rolling out around 1:30 pm from here.

EDIT: Son of a b***h! I knew something was wrong with that date. It's my wifes B-day. I guess I'm out again

Just found this thread, I'm in, sure alot better than flying back to NY to go to my friend's wedding and having to deal with the Ex.

I'm in Pasadena and plan on spending the night, I have a poncho to make a hooch and will bring a couple gallons of water and some food to share with others. I don't have the ability to bring targets so I'd appreciate being able to use other's. I'll be bringing my Savage and AR, maybe a few other guns as well.

If anyone wants to carpool and plans on spending the night let me know, I'll have room for at least 1 person. I'll see aout bringing some firewood as well.

What kind of Savage do you have?

I'm in Monrovia and may be interested in carpooling. I'll be spending the night out there. Plus I will have targets.

It was a model 10 in .308. The only parts that are still Savage is the receiver, trigger and bolt, still chambered in .308

Monrovia isn't far from me at all. I have a Mitsubishi Galant, the trunk is pretty big actually.

Is steel core ammo GTG? I have a bunch for my M1 and haven't been able to take it shooting since I've moved here.

you can only shoot steel core if you want to other wise you should use bullets made of soy milk that condors can feed on.

Hmmm, that pic doesn't look like the location we're talking about.
Am I wrong?
This is a pic I have from the site:

I think the distance is about 325-375 from the shooting area. After that, you'd have to do some climbing to set up targets but could do it.

Yep, which is what I'll be shooting in my M1917. IDF Match Grade!

I am wondering if I should just do the same thing.....

I think I would have to clean out my truck bed first then get an air matress

Thats my plan. I did that a few weeks ago in Owen's Valley. As long as you got a nice pad/air mattress to sleep on, it is really quite pleasant.

I have something similar to this, should I bring it for fires in the evening? We can then dig a hole and bury the ashes in the mornings.

Until, during the night, the tarantulas and scorpions climb on top of you, the coyotes jump in to eat you and the tractor beam from the alien ship takes you away.

Can I have your guns and ammo when we can't find you in the morning.

So I just picked up this bad boy down at the local Car Max. Do you think it will work for the BLM overnighter? Not sure if there is enough room for me and my toys. Oh well, I guess I'm one of the poor shlops thats roughing it......

HaHa, don't I wish!!! I'll probably be stuck sleeping in the back of my Suburban on an air mattress.

Mine isn't so hi tech as that as it is an old washing machine drum we used when we had our RV. I cut the agitator out, so there is a big hole in the bottom. The drum sits on top of 2 cinder blocks and the ash falls into a hole in the dirt I will have dug prior to setting it in place. On Sunday, we'll get some water in the hole to ensure the fire is out, cover it up with dirt and it will look like we never had a fire. I used it at a shoot we had in northern Nv. last year and we had a fire for 3 nights and left no evidence.

It is up to you whether you want to bring yours, but it might be better if we don't have a bunch of different campfires going on just for safety reasons. Also, that would just break us up into several different groups instead of one big one. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

Thanks

As long as we don't have any special events at work I'll use one of my sick days. It'll probably be me and my co-worker. I have a mid size SUV so after all our camping gear, ez ups, guns and tables, I may have room for one more if there is some one in the the WLA area interested. But again, I gotta check make sure I can take the day off first.

I have enough to fill one row, almost bed high across the width of my truck and someone else mentioned they are bringing some also. Since we are only going to be out there one night, that should be enough.

Since you mentioned scrap wood tho, some would be nice as kindling to start the fire.

Yeah, I cut down a huge black walnut tree in my backyard two years ago. Will bring a pile of that. Makes for good burning!

I was thinking the same, but 2 nights in the desert, and 3 days, might be a bit much. I'd have to fill the back of my pickup up with water like a redneck pool, just to keep cool!!

Unless things change, count me in as an overnighter, too. I wasn't sure if I should bring some food for the evening's BBQ. I'm thinking I might bake up some double fudge brownies. Does anybody know if that would go with Carne Asada?
