Any info for the canyons this weekend? Too late to call the Rangers... too impatient to wait until tomorrow morning.

It rained like a mother here last night, enough that they had to doze all the mud off gilman springs near the insane asylum.

1:30 PM. Monday afternoon. White Truck. 4th canyon. 3 guys. Stop shooting when the canyons are closed! It's a good way to get us all banned! Yup, I saw you from that helicopter circling you at 3000'. Please realize that the canyons are closed for a reason. The first time someone shooting when they are closed causes a fire I'm sure that person will be the last to ever shoot there. I'll keep watching as I can!!

The thing is, those shooters were likely not Calgunners since we know we can lose that area. That said, these shooters probably won't ever see your post.

Are you able to contact the Forest Service station there and advise them of the shooters. They will be happy to send out the leo to give them a nice cite. I would surmise that will curtail their shooting excursions into a closed shooting area.

Here's some Info >>

I just talked to a Ranger Sunday about this storm and what might happen

IF ,,, and I said IF .....We get enough " Days" of wet
They will consider it

I Will post as soon as I find out anything ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Maybe a Small Canyon Clean-up would show the Forestery Higher-Ups how We feel about this place and get the ball rolling

Today I called Dave at Double-Check ( Retreat you pass on the dirt road to the Canyons)

Last nights storm hit the center + the dirt road Hard.............

He has 3 buildings with mud in them
The Flood of mud came across the road at the water storage pond /Taking out the fence again and part of the road
Another fisher opened up in the dirt road going to the canyons

Sounds like it's a Mess,,,
I'll go up and check it out this weekend and report back

Ug... that was enough rain to turn hemet into one giant lake. I'd like to see them try to start a fire up there right now...

Sorry [/rant]. If you think a clean up would help grease some wheels I'm in (just make sure to clarify that we'd be cleaning up after other than shooting people ).

Bee Canyon Photo Update

I've been getting a Lot of requests as to " How are the Canyons ? "

So , The wife and I took a Rhino trip today to check it out
Put it this way ,,,, I'll need a Lot of quarters for the car wash ........

I'll let the pictures tell the Tale ::

# 1This the Tight turn going toward the shooting area

# 2 This is about halfway to the 1 st. shooting canyon / Flat spot in middle , used to be the road

# 3 Still going ...The flat spot above is where the main road used to be !!!!

# 3 Here's shooting canyon # 1 / Any questions !

Here what most of the trail looks like , And this is where I could stop bounceing long enough for the picture

On my ride Yesterday I met up with OHV Forest patrol guy I know well
And we were talking about the condition of the lower road

He said they might shut the Large gate at the bottom till they can get a dozer down there to do a Lot of grading to repair the road for regular travel

They don't want people getting hurt on what's left of the road down there
Or getting calls ." Help Me " ...........

As we All know , There are a lot of idiots on the trails

Wow. So nature in it's .pure form is too dangerous ? And must be closed so that stupid people don't get stuck and have to call for help?

I wonder how Azusa has stayed open this long. Or Gorman. Or Glamis.

Thanks for the pictures though.. looks pretty rough out there.. I've never been.. how far a hump in is it from those rocks? Looks to be impassible in your rhino.. might be able to get through there in the truck.

Put on at least 25 Miles of trail riding in the Rhino yesterday / Went thru Lots of ditches and ruts from the runoff / Myself and 3 quads

Even had to pull out one quad that could not make it thru a Muck hole
One spot the water in the dip was more than tire deep

Being smaller that a Jeep , I can squeeze thru and over a Lot

UPDATE :

Just talked to person at Ranger Station
Said Bee Canyon issues will be at their general meeting later in the week

I'll keep everyone posted

ALSO:
Another reason for a Temp. closing of the main gate would be so they can doze the area and not have to worry about some riders or Off Roaders coming by and having an O-S#@% moment

OPEN ............OPEN............OPEN

I got a text today from a Ranger that Bee Canyon will be open for shooting as of 12:01 AM this Morning !! ( Who's up for going )

BUT

Now Hear This .............
There are Road Closed signs UP. and I've heard the Main Forest gate is shut
Because of ALL the rain damage /// See Above Pictures
You will have to Park near the Metal Info. sign and walk at least 1/4 in to get to the first shooting canyon ( Again See above pictures of first canyon )

Past the 2nd white gate, right? That's quite the hike carrying gear. When will they plow it?

Good Question ...............................................

Forest Service ?
Lake Hemet Water Distric ?
Orchard Owner ?
Double-Check Retreat ?

Take your pick...... They will most likey wait till next weeks storms are over
OR
Maybe longer if the long term storm out look is WET

Thank You El Nino
