Great thread Eat Dirt!

Guys and galls, please call the Idyllwild Ranger Station (951-659-2117) before you go up if there is nothing posted here for that day. They will let you know what the activity level is for that day and if there is any temporary closure. Below is from their Target Shooting Rules & Regulations http://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/sbnf...theractivities
Please pick up your trash, old targets and a little more if you can.

Quote:
Shooting will be allowed all day during activity levels 1 & 2

Shooting will closed at 1:00 pm during activity level 3

Shooting will be closed all day during activity levels 4 & 5
The San Bernardino National Forest may be closed to all target shooting during periods of high fire danger. This temporary closure will be on a day-to-day basis depending upon the predicted level of fire activity.

It is your responsibility to know the fire restrictions which are in effect each day you plan to shoot.

Just started steady at 14:40 Hours / 2:30

The roads were already damp with a few puddles from the last storm
So I'am sure it's going to be Mucky out there tomorrow

Was out on my bike Saturday, the road is pretty chewed up from the rain. Saw 2 cars get stuck due to low clearance. No sedans recommended.

Very True ............
There are a few good Ruts out there / Mother Nature's speed bumps !

Leave the '66 Impala at home

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If's anyone is interested ... I took my range-finder out the other Day

Was always wondering what the distance in the canyons are

Here's a List ::

Canyon #1... 70 Yards
Canyon #2... up to 150 Yards
Canyon #3... 75 Yards
Canyon #4... 65 Yards
Canyon #5... 90 Yards
Canyon #6...60 Yards on Left Canyon
80 Yards on Right Canyon
Canyon #7... 25 Yards / Smallest of the canyons, Maybe pistol only

From there is the steep grade going up to Shot-Gun Flats

NOTE *** The forest Service has a new Pipe Railing fence along the entrance to Shotgun flats / We can still shoot there / Just have to lift -a-leg to get over the railing ( Was getting to be a party spot at night and way too much trash and even campfires let unattended

The first and only time I went up there so far I saw all the casings that nobody picks up.

I grabbed more brass than my party and I spent and some of what I could reload that we didn't, however I didn't think I would be burdened by the prior shooters of shotguns, .40 cal, and more.

Next time I will be bringing something like 2 buckets to collect all the crap that scumbags leave, the problem is I don't really want to spend more time cleaning up someone else's rimfire brass for longer than I spent shooting.

Just started going here, and I have always tried to leave places cleaner than I initially found them, yet I was not prepared for other people's laziness. I will be next time.

You should check out this thread that Eat Dirt started and keeps up on http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=324272 in the range clean up section, it only takes a couple hours for 4 or 5 guys to clean a whole canyon and we have fun for a couple hours after. Its a fun way to make new friends and do some good..... And thank you for packing out more than you came with!

It is getting warmer and dryer, the activity level for today 5/14 and tomorrow 5/15 is a 3 which means no shooting past 1PM. I am sure it will go back to all day when we get some June Gloom weather.

I think the guys were from the AR-15 forum, as he was really self-conscious about having a Bushmaster AR (), like he was bleeding that week or something. However, they did let us share their spot when we were able to find the Canyon. (Even if they left every shell casing they shot for others to pick up.)

I am SO glad I was able to get a membership in Rainbow... now. Since it is the same distance from my house (but no stop lights the whole way going south), I will probably use the place in rainbow exclusively.

Come on over to the other side of the hill
I'll give you a tour

Quick Story >>>>>>
My wife and I were at another shooting spot where EvoxRiley goes
A favorite pocket knife got left on a large rock at the 'Spot '
EvoXRiley found it the next day
We were talking at a shoot and I told him I lost my knife
" Hey , I found one like that "
I got it back and still have it
What are the odds............

I just checked and the activity level for tomorrow the 25th is a 3, shooting till 1PM. A couple days ago it was a 5 and there was no shooting that day but I would still call the Idyllwild Ranger Station to make sure. With the winds and hot dry weather we just had who knows when they will close it.

Question, when I go out there I usually get there at 7 am, is there a way to make sure its open that day without waiting for the ranger station to open? I dont trust the updates on the site. I have called the day before i go but the gal said they usually don't know till they close.

Hey guys I'm new to this site, I grew up in Temecula and joined the army for ten years and got out not too long ago. I'm now living in murrieta. I found this thread while looking for a place to shoot. Is Bee's a safe area as in responsible shooters? I don't wanna get hit from another range lol. All I have is an old ruger 10/22 but I plan on purchasing some others. Let me know and if anyone plans some group shooting let me know. Thanks and I look forward to meeting some of you.

Welcome to Calguns and thank you for your service!

I have been there a few times and I still take my kids so I think it is pretty safe, the canyons are long and tall so someone would have to do something really stipid to cause an accident in the next canyon over.

Eat Dirt started this thread and the Bee Canyon clean up thread, he has been shooting there I think 30+ years, I am sure he will chime in soon with his thoughts.

There will be a canyon clean up soon and you are more than welcome to help and plink after, the thread is here http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=324272
There are also some pictures so you can see the area. Make sure you call the ranger station to see the activity level for the day, the rangers do give tickets for shooting when there is fire danger.

Hey thanks for the welcoms, I just picked up a new Mossberg 500 tactical cruiser, and am very VERY anxious to go break her in. I'm off of nursing school all week, anyone planning on heading out there anytime soon? I'd like to go with someone for my first trip out there to feel a little more comfortable. I'm probably gonna bring my wife to teach her how to shoot too so if anyone else has a wife that wants to go let me know. We could meet up somewhere so I could follow you out there. Thanks!

When you go make sure you call the Idyllwild Ranger Station for the activity level. Today and tomorrow is activity level 3 so no shooting after 1PM. It may go back to all day when it gets humid or cooler.

Hey EatDirt & the Mrs,

Thanks for the Bee Canyon info and letting us see your black powder revolver in action. We came across you and the Mrs. last week. I was the guy from the Hemet Jeep Club with the two little girls and their pink .22 rifle. I think I was there when Slimjoey14t was trying out his Mossberg. We shot about 800 rounds and picked up our brass afterwards.

I hope to meet up with you and other Calguns.net members during the next cleanup.

See ya,

Delfuego

Man, with all the newfound enthusiasm here and on the other threads I thought this would be a slam dunk.... well at least there will be plenty of parking I might be down to only bringing one helper

Hey sorry I didn't see the post till today. I'll be there the next clean up as long as we can keep it on a weekend. I'm currently in college in a Nursing program so my week is usually full. We should start an email list to keep people notified. I was under the impression since the last post saying it was closed for the season that the thread may quiet down for a while.
