Outdoor Shooting in or near Ventura County

Are there any outdoor areas in or near Ventura county where I can shoot my rifle and shotgun? Los Padres and Cherry Creek are a no go.

No one on this site is going to help with that. I tried to get a forum started to share shooting spots and got resoundingly smacked down. Some even pointing out I only have 25 posts.

My spot is a dump. I mean that people not shooting dump garbage there. Oh well. You are welcome to come out there.

33 to 166 east. blah blah.... Find the Buttonwillow airport on maps, go to satellite view look the the big scratched up quarry/concrete batch plant 1.5 miles south west. Granted, it might be a bit far for you. Sorry. If you go there, please haul out a little more than you bring in

I emailed USFS Los Padres and awaiting answer on updated target shooting rules. They have used all kinds of restrictions to keep target shooting off the table including fire restrictions and closures. Hopefully I can get info soon.

I have already gone back and forth with Los Padres. They don’t even claim fire hazard anymore. Their big plan is to ban target shooting within the forest except at shooting ranges they haven’t built “yet”. It’s complete BS designed to push the public out of public land.

Here is the order banning target shooting. It has been extend for years now.
