Mods, feel free to put me in the right forum if this isnt it ....
I'm looking for in the ear, probably electronic, hearing protection. Tired of dealing with foam, and my electronic muffs are too cumbersome when shooting rifles. My goal is to be able to hear conversations while not shooting, but have around a 27 db reduction or more while shooting. I know decibells has a diaphram based unit that not electronic, which may be an option. So what do you use? Anything to stay away from? Budget is $150-200 max. |

I would highly recommend the Howard Leight. They are reliable, durable and mostly comfy. Great entry level electronic ear protection!

Satisfied with Axis (both the in-the-ear and muff styles) and Westone. My Westone is more expensive that the Axis models since it is custom fitted to my ear (Axis offers the same enhancement as an extra). Assuming my recollection is correct the standard Axis model would be within your budget. All of them are noise cancelling.

RS - can you specify a model? A fair amount of reviews on the ones I saw indicated a less than desirable fit.
Dirtlaw - is that Axil or Axis? The Axil GS Extreme 2.0 are only $100 with discount code CMGSX for those interested. Thanks, gents. |

Concur, I just picked up a pair and used in conjunction with comply tips they work very well. I recently did a 9 hour class and they still had 40% battery life. Charging case makes easy storage and is convenient. There is a set for sale on CG for a nice price. https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1830363 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wow, are they really that good? I was about to post another thread, but I'm glad I saw this.
I'm a little apprehensive about ear buds for indoor range, outdoor sure. Even if they were electronic. Any thoughts on Walker's Xcel or the firemax? |
