Anyone here planning to attend the CMP Western Games in Phoenix in March?

Anyone here going to the CMP Western Games in Phoenix in 2023?

Hi everyone; just curious to see if anyone here is planning to attend the CMP Western Games in Phoenix coming up in March. I see that online registration is now open. What are your experiences and advice? Thanks!

I've shot the standard garand match. I assume you are shooting that. But you can shoot service match at the same time... 1903, 1917, k31 mauser, and whatever.

Just show up and shoot. Bring whatever gear you have or need/ want.
Targets are electronic, no spotting scope needed
Mat to lay on
Snacks, water

I'm not anything special, I shoot in shorts and t shirt. Eyes and ears. Web sling. Ammo in pocket, or on mat when in prone.

Shoot more than one match in the day you shoot

I shoot 2 service matches a day. M1 garand
Shoot whatever ammo you want, surplus, reloaded, match you pick

I've also shot the ar15/ m16 match. They give everyone the same rifle and ammo
Fun match too.

Everyone is very helpful, it's easy.
Just learn the position on YouTube. Once you see what people are doing you will be fine.
You will be fine if you just show up.

Everything is timed, but you have plenty of time for everything

Awesome; I appreciate the info. I’m the same way; I just enjoy shooting my wooden guns so I figure putting it through a competition would be fun.

I used to go when they were at Pendleton then a few years in PHX. They are well run and a lot of fun and the weather is nice when they were in October. Maybe I'll get out there again!
