Default Centerfire Firearms in Riverside is closed.

I stopped by the pool supply store to get some chemicals yesterday, which is right next door to Centerfire.

As I drove past Centerfire, there was a white sheet of paper that read closed taped to the front door, no people inside and looked empty.

I was in there maybe a month or six weeks ago looking for some powder. Inventory looked good on the racks and in the cases. Shelves had inventory, staff was talking with customers and showing guns.

Anybody know the story on this?

Dang, I bought my then 16yr. old son a Ruger 10/22 that was on consignment there. He is now 36 and tho it's in my safe since he has 4 young boys, it's still his. I've taught some of the grandkids how to shoot on it. It's a shame that it went out of business.

Jerry the owner, was diagnosed with cancer last year, and passed earlier this year. It was probably my favorite shop and sorry to see it go.

Jerry facilitated a couple of PPT's for me over the years and was always willing to talk at length about any firearm questions I had.

Sorry to hear to hear of his passing.

Another Mom and Pop gun store that closed a couple years ago in Riverside was JW Guns. Jerry and Midge(?) retired to Montana. Jerry also did gunsmithing and knew a fair amount about 1911's, M1A's, and lever actions.

I'll take a Mom and Pop shop over a chain like Turner's or Ammo Bros. any day. Sad to see them go.

Damn! They were literally within walking distance and were always very helpful. Sorry to hear about Jerry and them closing up shop.
