Default Hunting pigs in west Riverside

So I keep seeing stories about wild pigs trashing fairmont park and other areas near the rivers. Is it even allowed to shoot pigs in those areas?

No, it isn't legal. They're basically untouchable even though everyone knows they're there. Last I heard was a calgunner contacted the city for a depredation permit.

Basically every foot of the Santa Ana Riverbed is within some cities limits. From Newport Beach all the way to the San Bernadino Forest.

There have been feral hogs in that riverbed since the 1970s that I know of. Back then they weren't that far north. They were down in the Prado Wetlands behind the dam.

I looked over some different rules for the area, and because the riverbed is so close to populated area, shooting guns is a no go. But I didn't find anything prohibiting the use of bows or crossbows. I'll have to dig a little more.

I'm in touch with the City of Riverside. I'll post as soon as I her from them. As of NOW, they will allow bow hunters.

I'm hoping that they will realize there are NOT enough bow hunters to quell the pest...and...the river is below grade and shots won;t be taken more than 100 yards away.

In a perfect world, we'll bait a few locations with corn and literally be shooting fish in a barrel.
