Tier1 Concealed AIWB and restroom

I'm in the CCW mode with the SD Sheriff so I'm struggling with holster selection. I have a Glock 19 and 26 on my application. I have a Kydex holster that works for both but find it uncomfortable most of the time. I'm wearing it at home to get used to carrying. I see the Tier1 AIWB that looks interesting but wonder what happens in the restroom. Standing to take a leak, can you do it and for number 2 how much of a hassle is it? Looks like a big thing in the way of doing my duty, but it looks more comfortable than my current holster. I am going between 3 O'clock and appendix so that needs sorted out.

I keep reading about peoples selection and am asking for advice.

I have carried AIWB with both weapons you listed. I have Kydex holsters. I would go in the stall and take gun and holster off and place in my underwear. You can fold over the top of your pants to help conceal. I did it that way because if you put it on a toilet paper dispenser you could possibly forget it. With it in your underwear you won't forget it. Also find a way to leave the weapon holstered. Less chance of a ND.

Appendix carry is great but urinal use can be challenging if you unbuckle instead of fishing the...little general...out through your fly. If you don't use the fly, then it's probably best to head into a stall.

I carry at true appendix as opposed to a sidecar type rig like the Tier 1, which tends to ride at center line. But in either of these two positions, once you unbuckle your belt, the holster is likely going to slide off the belt, depending on your attachment choice. I use soft loops which slide off the belt pretty easily. If you're using some type of clip, it might stay on the belt but it can depend on a ton of factors...how heavy your rig is, where your belt loops are positioned, how your belt is oriented, etc.

#2 really isn't a big deal. You have to unbuckle anyway so I just pop my holster off and set it inside my pants. Do not set the gun on the back of the toilet or on the TP dispenser. That's usually what happened when you read about someone forgetting their gun in a stall. If you set it inside your pants, there is no way you can walk out without it. And do not hang it on the door hook. People reach over and steal stuff like that all the time.

I use a ratcheting belt that is a little long and I put the buckle at 10 o'clock. That way I can loosen the belt but still keep it connected in the buckle and since it's a rigid belt the gun and holster go up and down with the pants without much flop

Then be an adult and stop pushing your pants down to your ankles. Keep them up at your knees and spread your legs to hold the pants up to keep the gun from showing below the stall walls

OP, which holster are you using for your G26/G19?

i've recently started carrying daily and this is my observation.

I only carry AIWB, and its either a G26, a Shield, or rarely a G19 w/Tlr7a.

When I have to take a leak, I just use the fly, as mentioned above. With my shield and G26 holsters, I dont have a problem pullin my weiner out of the fly.

With a #2, then you are taking off the holster. I like the idea of putting it in your underwear and not on the TP holder.

I use a Tier 1 Xiphos v2 holster for my g26 and dont love it. The 2 clips are kinda a pain to deal with. I upgraded to the DCC clips for an even slimmer profile and added a wedge for less printing, but the holster just doesnt feel right. I am constantly adjusting it and since its a small gun and there isnt a lot of gun/holster below the waisline, the grip can tend to tip out a little bit. It gets top heavy.

I havent tried any sidecar style holsters, but if theyre anything like the Xiphos then I will probably not like it. That said, the DCC clips really grab onto the belt and wont move when I undo the belt.

Altho Im pretty new to CCW, i have come to prefer the single clip type holsters.

I recently got a Phlster Pro holster for use with my G26 and really like it. Since it's a longer holster it prevents the grip from tipping out. It also has a built in wedge type thing. I dont use the soft loops, but rather the DCC Monoblock. Even tho you can fit larger guns in the holster, I only use it with my G26. If you wanted to get one holster for the G26 and 19, then this one would work:

For my G19, I use a vedder and its also super comfortable and conceals well.
For my Shield, I use a ANR Master blaster with DCC Monoblock.

enorbit3 thank you for the thoughtful post. In fact thank everyone who posted. I remain concerned about doing my duty at a public restroom urinal using the Tier 1 holster.

The current holster I have is a N8 Tactical Xective, Kydex and have attached several photos. this works, is hard and uncomfortable but may be better after some time getting use to it. The holster works for both the 26 and 19. I have it mounted high so I can get my hand around it. When I mount it lower it is real difficult to get my thumb behind it for a secure grip.

I would like to wear this at 3 O'clock but it just seems so much of a bump out and hard to keep from printing.

I'm an old guy but new to CCW and appreciate your help.

One other thing to consider is the belt. While a regular belt will work, it's not ideal. Have you tried a carry specific belt? For appendix carry I can recommend the new tier 1 belt. It's based off the hunter Constantine belt where it's rigid up front and the rear has an elastic type material. This helps with back pain that can develop with a heavy pistol/holster combo and a very stiff belt.

Another option and one that is less expensive is the v dev group medjingnord belt (i probably misspelled that).

I have one of each and they're very similar. The v dev group is much less expensive but doesn't have the elastic. The tier 1 is more comfortable but idk if it's that much more comfortable to justify the price difference.

As stated above, a good belt goes a long way. I personally use Kore Belts.

Got a JM custom kydex appendix with a Homade wedge. Darn comfortable but took some time positioning and getting the wedge right

For #1 I just use the fly, no reason to unbuckle or in holster

#2 I leave holster on and loosen my wilderness taxctical belt as far as I can, lower pants and do my business. The belt will leave a hoop and holster will position like normal. Fold my underwear over pistol if I?m public restroom

Currently have a tier 1 axis on order so I will start over with all the fitting of a new holster

There is actually a tier one video where they give tips for everything (restroom, car,ect)
Search tier one appendix carry I think. One guy raises up one clip of the belt to get thru the zipper. Check it out

I carry appendix with a G19 in a Tier1 or a 365xl Tier1. I unclip and reclip from a ratcheting belt. it's easy peasy when going #2. I let it ride a bit high when fishing out the little general to piss.

the great thing is the ease of adjustment when riding in a car, walking around or sitting down for a meal.
The appendix carry doesn't bother my back over the course of the day or evening.
I had a box of holsters, tried 3, 4, 6. Even considered holster for a minute. Appendix gives me the best control over the control of my weapon, ease of holstering and drawing, and during weak side draw and reload drills - unparalleled.
If you can, try a sidecar, with a dry weapon and a ratching belt. my only draw back is I have to wear the buckle at 10 o'clock, which can be a flag to anyone paying attention.

I carry AIWB with a Tier 1 MSP Pro Flex for my full size XD 9 with Streamlight and with a Tier 1 Axis Slim for my XD Sub. The other key part of the carry gear is the belt, which is a Kore Essentials belt. (Great belts and with ratchet adjustments, makes finding the perfect fit easy)

For restroom needs, I always use a stall. Easy to take out the holsters and put under my left armpit while I do the biz. That way, don't have to worry about forgetting. With the Kore Essentials belt, a quick adjustment to slightly loosen (maybe one or two clicks), put the holster back, ratchet it tight again, and I'm good to go.

Regarding positions OP, you may find a 330-400 more comfortable and less printy (that's a new word). At 300, I get significant sciatic pain, less so a little further around my back. It's going to be trial and error finding what works for you.

For the buckle at 1000, I always tell people I do it out of habit because I work on cars. The offset buckle doesnt scratch fenders when I lean into the engine bay.

I use Blackpoint Tactical Mini-Wing and they are super comfortable and versatile. Can be carried anywhere along the waist and if found that I like 2:30-3 o clock as it’s most comfortable.

Henry holster for my g19 and g48 with the ultimate clip(?). Doesn't move and I forget I'm carrying. I wear it all day with my shirt tucked in at work. I run an shop and I'm able to work on cars and in the office without printing. Really happy with it.

I looked at the tier one sidecar but it looked way too big. I like minimalistic. Easiest when dropping a duce.

It’s so easy to remove my T1 AIWB holster. I have the Axis Elite (the model with the sidecar). You can just take it off and hold it while dropping a deuce. Gun stays in holster, trigger guard is covered. Works for me. I’ve yet to find a holster that conceals as well as the Tier1. I just hold onto it. I don’t put it on the tank or TP dispenser because that’s nasty and you run the risk of forgetting it when you leave the stall.
