I'm a new gun owner heading out to FS in March for the 4 day Defensive Shooter Course. Starting to acquire all the required gear and (and a few non-essential items that were recommended to make the experience much more enjoyable like an UpLULA mag loader).

My question is should I purchase some sort of duffle, backpack or range bag to hold all of my firearm, gear, ammunition, hearing protection, glasses, incidentals, snacks, etc.? If so, any recommendations? Bag over backpack, brands/models, etc. Thanks!

Yes, you need a bag. A range bag is nice because they’re typically a little more beefy, have handy compartments, and can handle more weight (ammo), but a normal duffle would work.

Really??

A stock Glock's trigger will sure to go below 4# after thousands of rounds. What to do then?

Maybe I can check up in the FS groups in Facebook. Someone should know...

That was my panic response to what ke6guj posted here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ostcount=11500

So, if this hard-azz armorer gets his way, many of us can be booted out of class or even completely out of FS. Now, we have no idea how powerful this guy is within the FS organization hierarchy, and whether can he influence FS enough to make his expulsion policy stick. But, if the prevailing economic interest for FS is to minimize attendance by class-addicts like us, this exclusion strategy can work.

The cost to raise our guns’ trigger weights is not insubstantial. I don’t want to mess with replacing and tuning sears on our CZs, so it’s something I’d leave to the professional gunsmiths. The pay-per-class structure at other schools would make gunsmithing costs pale in comparison.

Damn shame that people (FS students and trigger companies) don't test their gear, or have ****ty trigger discipline

Sneaking a gun (or ammo for that matter) past inspection is just dishonest and deserves something punitive.

I'd hate to have to swap in a milspec trigger just to take a rifle class

For a Glock - who needs an aftermarket trigger, anyway?

As one of my squadmates from ATHG, he himself passing the HCM multiple times, notes - using equipment to compensate for a training problem. ... and he practices what he preaches - except for the fiber optic sights, his gun was stock. And yeah - he's an excellent shot!!!

I am just trolling...

On a more serious note, if one is to modify his/her equipment, it is most appreciated that they understand what they are doing. I think in one of the FS media pages they showed a Glock with the safety plunger spring on its side...

I had one of those in my 4DDHG. I was talking about ammo and it's cost, and he simply replied, just get reloads!?!

But then, it's the person's life, training, weapon, etc. Who am I to rat? Unless it impacts/impacted me...

BTW, off-topic @Mustard - coming out 24-26 April...?

Maybe... work/life is a bit busy right now, not sure I can spare a full weekend. I'm going to email Steve and see how flexible his cancellation/refund policy is.
