Default Best optic mount

Hi everyone. I was recently posting about SCAR vs AR 10. I was tempted by the SCAR but have a good AR 10 although without optics. I just bought a high end 1-8x scope and need to mount it. If money were no expense… what is the best mount for LPVO? Thank you!

There’s no “best”
Depends on your needs

Optic height
Built in moa
Ring size
Diving board requirement
Offset dot requirement
Quick release or not
Etc etc

It’s a permanent mount for a scope. Plan is not to remove it. Plan is to keep it as low as possible for nearest trajectory to bore and to allow BUIS if necessary.

Back up sights with lpvo? That would mean quick release and not permanent. It seems you need to rethink your plans.

Again there is not best
Also what’s your tube size?
Most mounts are very stable. You want quick release adm or Larue style? Nut locking. Ratchet style

There’s a world of options so again, there’s no best. Google images and see what looks good and fits your needs
Also what’s your “high end optic” and reticle. Do you need moa built in to reach certain distances?

You’re looking for a quick answer to a subject that has a million choices. Not trying to be a dick but think through and figure out your needs first before dropping $350-500 on “the best”

Well like almost everyone realistically the rifle will be used for plinking at the range. In theory self defense in SHTF situation but realistically plinking and classes. It’s a LWRC REPR and Schmidt and bender 1-8 PM. I’m just looking for what brands are solid and reliable for a permanent mount. Not QR. I like BUIS for everything. I have them on my AR with red dot and magnifier and on my pistols with red dots. I assume technology will fail and I always like iron at least for backup.

I see…

Adm
Geissele
Badger
Bobro
Spuhr
Larue
Sig (has the mil contract)
Nightforce
Vortex

Start with those and see which fit your needs best.

Thank you! Looks like 30 mm ring size. Looks like needs 8 mm clearance from the bottom and I think 1” from center so 1” offset?

I recently got a scalarworks and really like it. I’ve had adm, Larue, Bobro, Geissele and badger. Badger or the scalarworks would be my top two that I like.

Thank you guys. Brand is what I was really looking for. The guy at Schmidt bender liked spuhr. I have a couple emails out to see exactly what to get. Thank you!

Ive used the Night Force Ultra Light mount with great results. The return to zero is excellent if you ever remove it. It does have hex nuts, but with witness marks and/or a torque wrench rezeroing is not a problem.

This is basically a non-factor when selecting a scope mount.

Head height / cheek weld and scope body clearance are the main factors.

I use a Scalarworks Leap with a Vortex Gen 3 1-10 on my Scar 17 and enjoy the 1.93 height.

You won't find a mound for that rifle with such a low height off the rail. Figure 1.5" off the rail, or slightly higher. Most of the mounts you're looking at are ~1.5" high to ~1.9" high.

I hope you aren't expecting to be able to use standard type BUIS without first unbolting the scope from the rail. Your scope (any scope) is going to overhang the rear BUIS and prevent you from flipping it up into position.

So, you'd need to switch to 45-deg offset irons if you want to keep the scope mounted on the rifle AND be able to use the irons as an option.
