Default Thread is SPF and already locked?

Hello,
My recent thread is currently SPF and I was surprised to see it locked already. I intend to update it once transaction is complete. Did I do something wrong? Thank you.

You may have bumped your thread by posting in it SPF instead of just editing your main post. Too many people are bumping their threads to the top after it’s sold.

I didn’t bump it. I just edited my original post. The last post of my thread was the potential buyer saying he’ll take it.

It looks like a lot of your threads got merged. Your SPF thread just got caught up in the cleaning

WTS ads that are marked as "SPF" or "Sold Pending Funds" or something along those lines are treated the same as if the ad is marked as "sold".

This is due to past instances in which sellers were marking ads as "SPF" as a means to auction the item and continue to get bids on it ("back up offers").

Because ads marked "SPF" continue to be abused in this manner, they are treated the same as if they are marked as "sold".
Which means, the ad gets closed and cleaned up.

If for whatever reason the transaction does not get completed, then create a new ad for that item with a current price and not a "SPF" price.

Marketplace Rule #4.

If your WTS/WTB ad has no activity on it for more than 72 hours, then it is considered inactive and, when discovered, it is closed.

Last activity on your last WTS firearm parts accessories ad was approximately 5 days (120 hours) ago.

Marketplace Rules:

7) Edit the title to show your items have been 'Sold'.
Once you have sold the item(s) in your classified ad that you have in the Marketplace, edit the title so it's obvious that the item(s) have been sold'. Do not create a post just to say your item is sold. The moderating team does not delete threads simply because a transaction is completed, so please do not ask.

If you are trying to minimize the info, just delete the info in your text boxes.
10 posts should take less than 10 minutes.

If you are trying to hide sales from your wife/ex, etc., the info is already on the web and can be retrieved even after deletion.

Same thing happened to me. I marked my thread SPF, because I was not aware of these recent changes to how the policy works.

In the past, and in my mind, SPF (sold pending funds) means, "It might be sold so don't PM me with offers until I know." And then if it is sold I mark it as sold. Otherwise I will mark it "Still For Sale".

So now that we cannot do this, how do I do the equivalent? I like to be 100% clear in all my communication. This policy of locking SPF threads muddies the waters.

It also bugs me that I can't go and mark my thread as SOLD. Now it will be locked and not marked as sold for perpetuity.

The change to treat "SPF" type updates the same as "sold" type updates was due to forum members utilizing it as a means to auction off the item they marked "SPF.

Understood. Seems like there's a lot of bad actors in the for sale forums these days. It's still a net positive though compared to the rest of the internet. Thanks.

Appears the OP's posts were inactive for more than 4 weeks before they were closed.

but the post was closed the day after I posted it, not 72 hours after or whatever it said, hence the reason why i reposted it, and again after a day it was closed again.

Default Older For-sale threads locked...why?

I tried to bump my for-sale ad in "Private Firearms Parts and Accessories", and couldnt do so because it was closed.

Then I noticed a that all for-sale ads in that section, with last post dated Apr 9 and ealier, were all locked...Why?

Right? There's also another rule that you can't post separate posts for multiple items, I usually don't even click on multi item posts as it's always a mess.

April 9 might be when they switched servers permanently.

You can report your locked post and ask that it be unlocked. I did, it worked.

They may have locked them to keep randos from bumping them with the perennial "still available?" post.

I found the same issue and did what Skyhawk mentioned to get it unlocked. I have a listing in the ammo sales section which is a very slow moving section. A single bump post keeps the thread in the first page for weeks. When I went to bump it last I noticed I could not because it had been locked. Maybe the administrators got fed up with people responding to decades old threads.

think is was the switch over, just ask one of the moderators in black at the bottom of pages and someone will either unlock it or advise why it won't be.

Yeah, I noticed my sale thread locked too. Granted it's been up for some time, but I've been bumping regularly. Oh well.
Ive reached a mod before and got it unlocked.

If they were several days old with no activity, they can get closed.

Does not always happen if mods. are busy.

Bump every other day or so to keep them active.

Have they been inactive (no bumps to top) for several days?
Edit: Yes, 2 months of no activity is a long time.

The mods. sometimes close them out after a while.

Bump them up every day or two.

After a week or so, mods. sometimes close inactive ads.

Bump your ads every day or two to keep them going.

Default For Sale thread keeps getting closed

My most recent "want to sell" long gun thread was closed. As were the many before that. I tried messaging at least one moderator, but have not heard back. What's going on?

It?s in the rules, which some don?t read:

Quote:
4) Limit your ads to one per Marketplace sub-forum.
When posting within these forums we require that you keep all items to one thread per sub-forum only. If you have multiple items to sell, we expect you to include all of them in one thread in the appropriate forum(s) - e.g. all handguns in one thread in Private Handguns Sales forum, etc. Members may only start one active thread per separate Marketplace forum.
'Active' is defined as 'Currently in use and being maintained', if you're bumping your thread it's active. After three calendar days without activity a thread will be deemed 'inactive' and you can create a new thread. If you wait several days and bump your thread it wil be considered active and any threads posted in the intervening time will be merged or deleted.
Make sure you?re bumping it at least daily to keep it active.
