I’m still waiting to find out... I took my 4 hour refresher on the 8th and then was informed they no longer accept that... my ccw expires on the 25th and my instructor is still waiting to hear what the new requirements are going to be... do I have to start all over after the 25th?

Talked with Tulare County records for a little while. (Very nice lady!)

New requirements are the 4 hour renewal WITH live fire on each gun on the permit. She said the instructor should know of the amount of rounds and distance for each gun as she didn’t know that. After your card expires, you have up to 2 years to renew before having to start the process all over.

Anyone know what DOJ requires for qualification for each gun?

Default Here in Sacramento county.

We have to shoot 50 rounds for each gun on our CCW Permit. Doing this it seem like a long shootout. What a waste to shoot all that ammo. Just one well placed shot should end it all. IMO.

I took my 4 hour renewal class at Rankin Field Weapons Range on October 6, 2018 and was told that the Sheriff has not yet set any requirements as to the length of the class instruction or live fire requirements-furthermore these new yet to be determined standards don't go into effect until 2019.
What's going on here?

The live fire requirement has been put into affect there and consists of a requirement to shot 50 rounds at a target at The Range next door while the instructor watched. The Tulare Sheriff's web site also now states that live fire must be done effective in late September.
Absolutely not true.
Go to the Tulare county sheriff's website and search "TSCO CCW Instructor - Course of Fire Guidelines".
My summary:
Each gun to qualify must fire ONE full magazine or cylinder at a target placed at seven yards, must hit the target with half the total bullets 50% success. No mention of target type or size. No mention of 50 rounds per gun.
There will be no drawing or holstering requirement.
There will be no time requirement.
Eight hour class time for initial applicants, four hours for renewals.
I advise everyone to look this up and stop all the speculation especially the 50 round FUD.

Obviously ask your intended instructor about what they require to sign you off for Tulare County. My Certificate states "... demonstrated the requirements of The State of California Handgun Safety Certification of 4 hours Including live fire range qualification of 50 rounds."
Again-read the Tulare county live fire requirements-no mention of 50 anything.
