Default NON RESIDENT AMMO QUESTION

I moved out of California 10 years ago. I haven't been back since. In a couple months I have to go back for a week. I planned to do a little plinking on my family's property. Obviously I'm not up to date on the latest laws in CA but I've heard there are now even more laws than when I left, to include ammunition laws. My question is can I bring a couple boxes of 9mm with me? I will be flying fwiw and have done this before but it was long ago.

You can bring ammo with you. In fact you'll have to bring it. You won't be able to buy it here. I Can't help with details about flying with ammo though.

Thanks, I heard some stuff about not being able to buy any ammo there anymore so was worried.

Default Check with your airline

The amount of ammunition allowed (usually by weight) is set by the airline. It is often 11 lbs, but best to check.

"Please check with your airline for quantity limits for ammunition."

For example, Alaskan Airlines has different limits for international, and even by flight number: Alaskan Site

TSA Site

Non resident visitors to California can buy ammunition in California but it does have to be used at the range where it is purchased. Wouldn't help much if you are trying to shoot without going to an actual business running a range.
