PG&E announced this week that it intends to remove Scott Dam at Lake Pillsbury and the Cape Horn Dam at Van Arsdale Reservoir downstream from the lake. They also are going to remove ALL the Campgrounds around the lake and PG&E has already put all of the lake basin and the shoreline, and "a wide area" along 11 miles of river downstream of the lake under permanent conservation easement held by the Mendocino Land Trust with an easement that supposedly allows public access to the area in perpetuity.
How much do you want to bet that easement will not include access by motorized vehicles? I'd bet also that with the removal of the Campgrounds, the Forest Service may say that recreational target shooting on the landing strip is no longer allowed.
RIP Lake Pillsbury...
