Default Reverse cavalry draw

It seems more ergonomic than regular 3-4 o clock IWB/OWB carry. You don’t need to make that weird arm angle on presentation.

anyone here carry or has carried reverse cavalry? Pros ? Cons?

I guess you will have to be very careful when you draw the pistol. I am right handed, and I carried a pistol in a left hand IWB holster, just right of my small of the back. The butt was pointing to the right. It was quite comfortable to carry it that way.

If I was riding a horse and had a saber in my right hand I could draw my horse pistol with my left. It's great for that, otherwise it would be a handicap.

IMO

I've never tried it. But I'm having a hard time "feeling" it to be more ergonomic. Can you explain how it minimizes a weird arm angle?

Crossdraw setup and draw with the same side hand? Feel like it would sweep the abdomen during the draw.

That's the problem with crossdraw holsters. You need to sweep up to 180° in order to draw, similar problems as the 1980's shoulder holsters had.

That’s the way I always carried. Very comfortable.

That cocked wrist/tensioned forearm movement to get to the pistol when carrying IWB behind the hip in a conventional manner.

This is the gist of what I was thinking. I suppose it works better behind the hip than at 3 O'clock.

I guess it's not the best idea for semis. But for revolvers with heavy DA pulls maybe?

Crossdraw holsters are useful if you spend a lot of time driving. It keeps out of way of seatbelt and is easier to draw & shoot when seated inside the car.

Not all situations require a fast draw. If you are alert to your surroundings you might notice sketchy dudes approaching your car and have plenty of time to draw. Or if you hear an active shooter in another part of a building you're in or something like that. I think people sometimes put too much emphasis on carrying the most proper or tactical way. If you find a comfortable way to carry, you will carry and be armed more often.

Exclamation

I think Oddball in "Kelly's Hero" is the last person I've seen carry that way.

I carry my J frame and CA 44 like this. No holster though, just a Barami hip grip.

I always liked how that German tanker's eyes opened when Oddball tells him about the gold

Yeah it's pretty bad when I go back and watch some of the classic movies I grew up with thinking were "great." Different times for sure. Try Cool Hand Luke.

What weird arm angle are you talking about? Not that different than getting your wallet out, unless you have a really long barrel or your fingertips brush your knees.

It’s the cocked wrist. Pulling out a wallet doesn’t bend the wrist as much.
