Default Oaktree Gun Club

I haven't been to Oaktree for a while, maybe 5 years or more. How's the range these days, over crowded? Thinking about grabbing a membership. Thanks

I went last weekend. It is a bit crowded these days but way better than LAX range near my house. I bought a membership because they had them for 50% off and you get to cut the lines. I believe the deal expired last night but if you call they may honor it.

Its crowded due to the covid restrictions, not letting as many people on the lines or in the shop as normal. That should get better, hopefully when things get back to normal.

Oak Tree Gun Club has become nothing but a complete joke IMO. They have probably doubled the price of their membership over the last several years and have random range closures all the time. I'd be pretty upset if I paid full price for a membership and had to deal with all that.

Also, different parts of the range are open during different times of the week. It is also generally very crowded at certain times. They also used to charge a flat rate range fee to shoot pistols and/or rifles, but I guess now if you pay to shoot pistols and want to later on move to the rifle range, you have to pay an extra "transition fee".

With that being said, it is still one of the only outdoor ranges within the immediate LA area (or at least near where I live) soo....

They sold me with that Black Friday special. Piru is nicer but further and more expensive. And as someone mentioned, outdoor ranges are slim pickings.

So.... in the dark ages-1995

No one went shooting

We all spent so much $$$$$$ in 1994 with the Clinton / Biden AWB, we had zero money to shoot

If 9mm keeps selling for $30-$70 for a box of 50, ranges might be dead in 2021

Too much red tape to buy ammo
Too much cost to buy ammo
I don’t want to shoot up what I have as it’s too difficult to replace.

While LA has 10 million people... 2021 could be a slow year for ranges and shooting
