Default Range Card Question

I’m trying to fill out the range card for adding a new gun (renewal).

What is SSI # on the range card?

Surprise!!!!!! Booked solid so I have to go to Rancho.
Over 5,000 renewals this year. Girls have a line out the door right now.

I had a feeling that they were going to be busy this year. I'm part of post SB shooting permit holders. And you know how busy they got after that.

I called the day after I got the renewal letter to make sure I got the class I wanted. And I'm turning in my paperwork in two weeks to give them as close to 90 days to do what they need to do.

My permit expires in July. I am dropping my paperwork off in April and have my class scheduled for May. Still expecting a notice of a range re-qualification being needed before the class. Fingers crossed I don't but..........

I just qualified in Devore Wednesday to add a gun to my permit. It was stated very clearly by the deputies that we do not need to re-qualify for any gun currently on the permit.

Take it for what it's worth.

I just wanted to wait for the law to go into affect and see if the story changes, since Wednesday was January 2nd and the new law is in play, that is good to hear.

Quick question. I did my renewal paperwork and went to the class. My license expires 1/15/19. Do they mail out the new license at the last second?

Was anybody else here at the class on Tuesday 1/8/19? It was pretty cool having Sheriff McMahon talk and answer questions for the first hour or so.

I wanted that class but it filled up by the time I called in December. I didn’t get my notice until late November because My mailbox had gotten broken into back in April so i have had to go to post office which has the same working hours and is 20 miles from my work. I’m scheduled 2/12 at abundant living church. Has anyone done the class there?

I was in the same class and have the same expire date. Mine hasn’t arrived either. It was the same last renewal too. I’m sure the holidays slow things down.

It should arrive the first part of next week.
At one time it seemed all permits were dated 15th of what ever month.

We were told by the deps at our renewal class that the SO was in planning or negotiating to use a local mega church that seats 3500 for renewal classes next year. Pretty amazing numbers here.

They need it. The number of permits issued has skyrocketed since 2015, and as long as the SO does not want to give up control of training and move to private instruction, it is only going to compound.
They simply don't have the staff for processing and the deputies to handle classes and training. The budget would be better spent adding staff for processing applicants and allowing the local market to handle training and qualification to the current standards.

According to Deputy Mason we're approaching 10,000 permit holders in SB county... seems like a lot until you consider there are roughly 1.5 million people in the county eligible to carry. About 0.67%.

When I went for my interview in 16 I worked for Bass Pro. Deputy Diaz asked if BP knew anyone that could do CCW classes so I think it has been considered. The SO would have to vet any vendors to their satisfaction but so far nothing seems to be going on. That would put an additional cost on applicants. $100? $200? I don't think that would end the backlog, they still need to get more people into the unit for BG and residency checks to help speed things up.

1-15 - 19 Expiration.

10-17 Renewal application.

12-5 Range appointment to add a gun.

12-11 Renewal class

1-12 Card arrived in the mail.
That seemed pretty prompt to me.

Update!!! CRAP!!! I took a quick look to see if it was my CCW and threw it in a drawer. Went to put it in my wallet and looked at the back. My 1911 didn't make it onto my new CCW. Email inbound, will wait to see what happens.

More than likely they will let you swing by and give them that one for a corrected one.

Yep.
My original permit had an error on the caliber (Glock 36 was listed as .36).
I confirmed my DROS was correct, and they confirmed that AFS was correct and the permit was a typo. They printed a replacement while I waited.

For several years the model of one of my guns was wrong and never even noticed. That was back when you renewed YEARLY!!!!!
A family friend who happened to own a Gun shop and sold us that gun pointed it out. Don't even recall why he was looking at my CCW.

If you did the RealId when you did your DL renewal with only one proof of address, you can take a second proof in at anytime and add it to your info according to the DMV clerk yesterday that my hubby renewed with.
He had two proof of addresses and supposedly he is good to go.

Default Residency Requirements

I'm moving to SB county in August from Los Angeles county once I finish school because my job is out there. I'm going to be 23 and I have my pistol(s) I want to be able to carry.

I know that you have to be a full time resident, do I need to wait 6 months or can I apply once I officially live there and have a car registration, apartment lease, utility bills, and change my address on my DL?

I hope that I can apply once I have the paperwork, but please let me know if I will have to wait 6 months or a year.

Also, for my good cause statement I will be working off shifts (2pm-11pm or 11pm-7am) and I am worried about crimes being committed at that time of night, as well as the newly released criminals under state and federal law. I also want to carry for personal protection, as I was on campus in the same building as a school shooting previously and it changed my view on arming yourself.

Can you let me know how long to wait and if my good cause seems sufficient?

Thanks!
