As requested, this is a reminder that members are to conduct all ammo sales in accordance to Federal/State laws.
Therefore, the following will be implemented on 05-01-2020: 1. If you are a CA DOJ licensed ammunition vendor or CA FFL dealer, then your ads must be in the Marketplace: Commerical Sales subforum. Any ads from an ammunition vendor/CA FFL dealer that are found in the Private Ammo Sales subforum will be deleted or moved. 2. In accordance with Federal laws/regulations, the selling of reloaded ammunition is not allowed, unless the ammunition was made by a Type 06-FFL. [18 USC 922(a)(1)(B)] 3. All members are limited to posting one active WTS ad and can not advertise the sale of more than 500 rounds. [PC 30342(a)] Multiple ads by the same member will be merged into one ad. Any ad for more than 500 rounds will be deleted. Any one discovered to be violating the rules on a regular basis will be ban from the Marketplace forums for one year. I understand that I can only sell 500 rds per month, per California law. But, what if (for example) I have 500 rds of 9mm *and* 500 rds of 45 ACP to sell? Why can't I advertise both in the same ad?
I want to sell at least one of the lots, correct? And I don't care which one I sell first, just that I eventually sell it all. If I can only offer 500 rds at a time, under the current rules, I have to pick which 500 rds to offer. Am I understanding this correctly? If so, under these guidelines, I have to guess which caliber will sell first, and offer that caliber up for sale. Let's say I decide that people will want 9mm before they will want 45 ACP (a reasonable guess), so I offer the 500 rds of 9mm up for sale. In this scenario, no one gets what they want. The guy who wants the 45 ACP never knows it is for sale, so he goes without. I never know that anyone wants the 45 ACP because I can't put it up for sale. And the 9mm just sits there. When taken together with the "Only one ad every 30 days" rule, this effectively kills most ammo sales, even when legal sales can still transpire. Now, why can't I advertise the following in one post?
At that point, if I get another prospective buyer, I simply inform this second buyer that we have to wait until XX date for him to purchase what he wants. Can this work? . |

Do I understand correctly, that living OUT of state, as I do, I can buy ammo from private citizens IN CA without issue?
What hoops would a CA resident hafta go through, to send it to me? I can order commercial and it comes to my doorstep without issue, in whatever amount I can afford, FYI. ![]()

Is there a way to add an auto signature to adds in classified
- all guns through FFL - no solvent traps - 500 rounds Ammo max via dealer

In California, all transfers need an ammo dealer.
Trading is a transfer Selling is a transfer Gifting is a transfer Common sense - not allowed - cannot transfer ![]()

Just to confirm, the rule is 30 days to the tee (as in if you sell Dec 18 the next earliest sell date is Jan 17)?
Or is it calendar month (sell once on any date in one month, then sell once on any date the next month)? |

Hey everybody. I’ve have a problem with getting Ammo transferred to FFL. Ever since they change the law I’ve been having a problem of not clearing my background for the Ammo transfer but I’ve done two gun transfers in my name clears them. Does anybody else have this problem? What do I need to do in order to get ammo? If someone can help me I would highly appreciate it.

Just wanted to give thanks to the owners/Moderators of this site for everything you guys do. Its been a very helpful resource.
So I read through that other thread and conducted a tried a keyword search which did not produce the result I needed. My questions is; is there any way I can trade my .380 ammo, for example, for .40 if I do not have the boxes. Not thinking about it over the last couple of years; I purchased ammo as it became available and stored it in those 100 round plastic storage cases, which I placed into an Ammo can. Well, I'm about to sell my Bersa and wanted to include the ammo, but was advised I cannot do that without the original ammo boxes. I was also told I cannot trade the ammo for another caliber either. I do still have all DROS receipts however. Will that suffice in any way? Thanks in advance. |

Not having the boxes might just be the shop's policy. I did a transfer with some ammo in original boxes and some in baggies because I split up a bulk bag. Looking at what the penal code says about the info on the ammo, the DOJ just requires to know the brand, type, and amount of ammo you're transferring. If doesn't say anything about needing to be in the original boxes that I could find. I just verbally told the FFL that info for the stuff in baggies. Take a look at the second post by the librarian in the thread below.

As for the "legal" way to trade ammo nowadays, you and whomever you're trading with would have to both do background checks on the ammo. You for what you get from them and they for the ammo they get from you. If they are buying your bersa then they wouldn't need a separate dros for the ammo, it would go on the same dros as the gun.
