Default Turners (San Marcos)

How are people hired to work at the firearms counter?

How tf does an employee not know what an AK-74 is?

You’re expecting a bit much from Turners.

Check their website and give them a SKU to work with.

Why would somebody know what an AK-74 is?

We know because we are into it but some people will have stumbled through life without encountering one.

Read the last page of the Turners application sometime. It will explain why the best and brightest moved on.

My friend didn’t know what an AK-74 was and he tried to correct me so we had to have a teaching moment.

Looking over the fees paid at Turners and my past transactions at Turners, I realized they charge the extra $5.99 or so for the cost of a safety lock. (I thought it was a paperwork fee and many have also said it was for paperwork fee)

What I also realized is that, Turner's never gave a $5.99+tax safety lock ever during pickups.

Anyone else not get a safety lock even after being charged for it?

Does it matter? Haven't had the case where I can re-use a new lock for another gun transaction. They all go into the trash.

In your case its very possible, employee error, or more sinister, on purpose.

1. At Turner's - on a new gun the only "fee" outside normal DROS fees is a "Dealer Handling Fee $5.00", if the new gun's factory lock is not CaDoJ approved, or didn't come with one, they can add on a $5.99 lock.
2. At Turner's - PPT is straight Dros fees + $10 (no $5 handling fee). If there was no lock or lock provided not DOJ approved or no lock receipt within 30 days, they can add on a $5.99 lock.

I have seen Turner's employees hit wrong button/options on their POS where on a new gun transaction they added the PPT $10 fee in error or on a PPT transaction they added $5 Dealer handling fee in error.

At the end of the day is, its a chain big box store, lots of clueless employees like Walmart or other minimum wage workers. If you for some reason need to deal with them, read your itemized receipt carefully before and after cashiering.

Yes, these are just retail workers. Why would you expect someone in retail to have the same knowledge as you, especially in something like firearms? There are people who take pride in their work and try to learn about the business or product, many do not. They are working to make ends meet or pay for school. The days of a store clerk having knowledge of what they sell are long gone, decades past.

Had quite the experience at the Kearny Mesa branch when I was looking for 380acp. Guy helping me said they dont have it, but I could see clearly in front me of a few boxes of 380 Auto (Fiochhi). When I said those were the same the look he gave me...

Yea, understood.
I guess I was hopeful to think gun store employees have knowledge in their jobs. Like you walk into a shoe store and you expect Al Bundy, but get Bud instead.
