![]() CMP Garand Clinic and Training Match Sunday June 25, 2017 LOCATION: Burbank Rifle and Revolver Club, Castaic, CA START TIME: Arrive at the range 8:00AM for Registration. CMP-Certified Master Instructors will provide instruction and coaching in the safe handling, operation, and firing of the M1 Garand Rifle. As well as, Range Safety and an Introduction to the sport of High Power Rifle Competition. The clinic and match will provide an opportunity for seasoned and beginning shooters to learn and practice high power rifle shooting techniques. Instruction will be offered before the match and experienced coaches will be on the line to assist beginning shooters. These matches are Sanctioned by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). Participants using an as-issued M-1 Garand, M1903/A3 Springfield, Vintage Military, M1A or CMP Qualified AR15 type Rifle will be eligible for CMP Achievement Awards. All participants completing the Clinic and Match will be issued a CMP Participation Certificate that may be used as part qualification to purchase an M-1 Garand rifle from the CMP. MATCH COURSE OF FIRE: This will be a 30 shot match fired at 100 yards on SR-1 targets additional sighting shots may be taken during the match as authorized by the Match Director. Stage 1. Up to 5 sighting shots and 10 shots for record slow fire, prone position. 15 minute time limit. Stage 2. 10 shots rapid fire, prone position One ten shot string, 80-second time limit. Stage 3. 10 shots slow fire, standing position. 10 minute time limit. Bring your Ear and Eye Protection! All competitors must use shooting glasses and hearing protectors. A shooting coat is recommended. Shooting mats will be provided. The Clinic and Match is expected to run 4 – 5 hours; however it may be a full day with extra range time for practice after the match. Bring Water and Nutrition! Check the weather report and dress accordingly. Mornings are usually cool, warming as the day progresses (the range is at about 3000 ft. elevation). Club M1 Garands are available to clinic participants for use during the clinic. Indicate on the Pre-Registration Form if you'd like to use one. COSTS: Clinic is free! Instruction will be inclusive for other rifles, including AR's and M1A's. As a participant, you may bring your own rifle and ammo to shoot if you wish. The Club will have loaner M1's and M1 ammo available. |

It is Fun, AND its an intro to competition...Really Fun! Your M-4 Carbine should be excellent for this match and also the monthly GSMM. FYI... The three stages of the match are shot at 100 yds. on an SR1 target. The SR1 target has a 6.5" bullseye. ![]() |

It was our pleasure to have a great group of enthusiastic clinic participants this last weekend! While some scores are high and some are low, it's important to remember.... this is just a starting point. You all did well just getting out there and getting those rounds down range! The level that you can achieve has little to do with your clinic score. Achievement in our sport is going to directly relate to dedication and persistence.
I hope you will all follow up with practice and attending matches. BRRC holds GSMM matches almost every 3rd Sunday... these are open to non members as well as members who have completed the clinic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
