Anyone here wait more than a month after DOJ showed a completed livescan on the website before the sccso received the results from DOJ? I completed a livescan on 11/20 and all three were cleared by 11/22 I emailed the sheriffs office asking my status and they kept telling me they haven't received my results from the DOJ yet. Im going on 3 months since my livescan completed. Has anyone experienced this here? I only ask because I see people here with similar timelines to mine and they have gotten permits issued.

I completed my livescan on 10/26 and the sheriff supposedly sent me an email on 11/15 saying to proceed with training, except I never got it. I called them on 11/29 asking what was taking so long and they said they sent on 11/15 and resent it again while I was on the phone with them, and only then did I actually get the email and text. Keep calling every week to see if there's a glitch in their system.. because for me it said it pushed updates out to me when i never got them.

I assume based on other posts that they are swamped with work and have very few people working on this. just kinda sucks that theres no set in stone process flow. either way, good luck! hopefully the calls come soon!
Omg! They have work! And have to do their job!! The humanities!!

I have my interview next month. I want to switch out one of the guns on my original application. Santa Clara uses Permitium, but I don't see where I can change out a gun? How do you do it?
Can you do it any time before issuance w/o a fee?

So I’m curious if anyone else had a Psych exam on Monday February 5th?
I had my exam scheduled for the 5th and I did the questionnaire days in advance. I got an email on Sunday morning the day before my exam, that said I will have the zoom link emailed to me later on that night or next morning. Took the day off. My exam time came and went. I emailed applicants@lepsinc.com about not getting my zoom link. Today I still haven?t heard anything. I got several emails leading up to the night before, but nothing with any link to virtual meeting/exam.

Did anyone else experience this?

Welp, I'm done. Picked up permit after an 11 month journey.

The guys I talked to at the sherrif's office said I should disclose my CCW status even if I'm not carrying during a traffic stop or anything like that, and said if I'm storing a gun in my car it needs to be tethered/bolted to the car with a CA DOJ approved safe.

Congratulations
Have the guy provided anything behind his words about transportation?
Should be as good as non ccw carrier

Sorry should have mentioned the specific scenario was that I am carrying but entering a building where carrying is prohibited. I asked 'if I leave my firearm in a safe under my seat, does it need to be bolted/tethered to the car?' and the answer was yes.

Putting it in the trunk is another option.

Sharing an update for existing CCW modification (replacing one of the three guns). After the qualification training with Saber Tactics, I submitted the modification application on Permitium website on 01/31 with the certificate. Got the call today (02/09) to pick up next Tuesday. Things seem like moving faster now as I was expecting multi-month wait.

Nice, how much all that cost you? And when were you initially issued the permit? Also what firearms did you replace and with what?

Cost: $19.85 to SCC, $99 to Saber Tactics + $40 for range fee
Initial issuing date: 11/2023
Replacing a full size (too big) with P365 after it is legal in CA.

What to expect for initial interview? Other than application packet (and probably driver license) do I need to bring anything else with me?

What types of questions are being asked? Anything to watch out for?

Thank you

If it's the initial interview, outside of Psych., you don't really need to bring anything. Just your ID will suffice. It's to double-check your paperwork in-person.

My impression was that they were referencing my personal and family history on-screen, and their questions seemed primarily oriented around whether or not I was honest, and secondarily to discern any propensity toward intemperance or amorality; a character check.
I.e. Don't shade the truth, because it's possible that they already know the correct answer to what they're asking you. Own up to any dumb***** stuff you did in your past, and prepare reasoned, rational explanations for your or your family members' behaviors.

It is initial interview.

Do I need to bring "proof" of gun ownership? I owned one I included in permit for a long time - don't have DROS record anymore.

I had to do my live scan again today. Received a call from Sheriff office asking about my livescan for my explosives permit. UPS entered the wrong type so I had to do livescan a second time today. At least I didn’t have to pay again.

At no point did I have to provide proof of ownership. If you have any questions, contact the CCW Unit. I'm sure others may be in a similar position.

Thank you once again for this. I sent an email on the day of this post, and I just got a reply from the CCW unit that LEPS will be reaching out to me to schedule psych exam. Took about 12 days for a reply.

Has anyone added a handgun after receiving their card? Was it as difficult as people make it out to be?

Apologize if this was asked already.

After receival of the ccw license, does the license date of 2 years start the date of application? or date of receival?

The license will have a Calendar date of expiration- that's what counts.

Great! thank you guys for your reply.

Also, when you upload the qualification documents, its the same process as you uploaded your drivers license and resident information correct?

Did you guys email the sheriffs office as well to inform them up the updated documents? or just uploaded and they responded afterwards?

Appreciate you guys help. First time doing this so not sure what I should/shouldn't do.

I basically followed the listed process without sending them emails. I uploaded and waited. It seemed to make certain steps go faster, as they don't want you to send emails. Only one email exception was waiting for SCCSO to receive my LiveScan results: I suppose they got them but forgot to email me and I got approval the same day.

Yes, you upload the qualification documents to Permitium.
If I recall correctly, I chose "required documentation" or something like that as the category as there wasn't one specifically for qualification documents.

I sent one very polite email to the sheriff's office. But that was it. After that, I just patiently waited. I'm not really sure it helped anyway. They're probably getting inundated with email as it is.

Livescan #1: 11/8/23 notified on 11/20/23 that prints were unusable and needed to be re-taken
Livescan #2: 11/22/23
Training email: 12/5/23
Training: 12/7/23 Saber Tactics
Live fire training / qualification: 1/27/24
Certificate of completion email: 1/30/24
Application approval email and final payment: 2/6/24
Call to schedule pick-up: 2/8/24
CCW pick-up: 2/15/24

I don't recall the name of the person that helped me when I picked up my CCW.
She did say she was a retired Captain that they brought back just to process CCWs (her and another Captain).
So hopefully things will start to speed up for everyone.

Shout out to Saber Tactics.
Being able to do the classroom portion online at home at my own pace and schedule was awesome.
The live fire training and qualification was also great.
Definite focus on safety.
I also got a few pointers from Nick which helped a lot.
Overall, I'm very happy with Saber Tactics and I highly recommend them.

Good luck to everyone still going through the process!

Damn... $160 just to change a gun.... you couldn't just carry one of the other two guns allowed on your permit? This is a good reminder for others though, go do a class or at least spend some time carrying the gun at home before you commit to putting it down on the permit!

See above, looks like it will cost you around $160 (and a range qual day) for the privilege.

I know, right? I liked P365 so much and couldn't wait to put it on the permit. The other 2 are also very old models which are low capacity and not easy to handle. $160 lesson...

Btw, regarding my question earlier in the thread about how the latest version (2024) of CA Form BOF 4012 now has 9 slots for firearms vs. the original 3, and if Santa Clara will be allowing us to add more than 3 to our CCW...

I did get an email response from them.

The answer is No. They're (currently) only allowing a max of 3 firearms on the CCW.

The livescan continues to be an issue for me. I submitted about a month ago and two weeks later I got a call from the sheriff office asking about my explosives permit. I told them it was for CCW so somebody entered the wrong information. I went ahead and did my livescan again and got a second call from the sheriff office saying it was "invalid submission" That my DOB or OATI number was incorrect from original submission. Everything on both livescan's was correct and the attachment that the sheriff office sent me all that info was correct so I don't know what's wrong. The UPS location was no help they said they did everything correct on thier end and would cost me to do again. I don't trust them and its over two weeks out to get an appt at the sheriff office for them to do them. I've emailed the DOJ on what's wrong and no answer and nobody will talk to you when you try to call.

Any suggestions? might have to bite the bullet and set appt, wait another couple weeks to do at sheriff office....what a pain in the ***.

You?re absolutely sure the right livescan form was printed out? https://countysheriff.sccgov.org/sit...ive%20Scan.pdf

Print that form from the link above, fill in your information (do not fill out Misc, Billing number) I recommend going to Verify Group Inc in Campbell, CA. They?re located on 262 E Hamilton Ave Ste A. They?ve done my COE and CCW Livescans and are very efficient about it. I?d also bring your original Livescan forms and have them take a look at it to see if filling it out again with the original ATI included could help.

Yes...correct form was submitted. I just don't understand why they are saying wrong DOB or OATI number. Thanks for the suggestion in Campbell as I live just a few miles away.
