Default Indoor Airgun or Airsoft options...?

Since target shooting in my backyard is frowned upon (living in Orange County), I?m looking at indoors from about 10 yards. While I really like Beeman?s R7 pellet air rifle springer, I?m worried about lead indoors. Furthermore, BB?s are very ricochet prone which is another issue. Don?t want potential broken windows. So, I?m wondering if an airsoft pistol would be worth considering?

Would love suggestions on what others here have used and experienced.

Either outdoor or indoor, always use a high quality pellet/bb trap.
^This will prevent any chances of ricochets.

In addition...

Check you local (county/city) ordinances to see if it is legal to discharge an airgun with their jurisdiction.

Since 02-12-1991, the City of Anaheim prohibits the discharge of an airgun within city limits. [AMC 6.32.070]
^Violation equates to a $500 fine + confiscation of the airgun.
~This violation is primarily discovered by LEOs due to noise complaints.

Orange County does not have any ordinances that prohibits the discharge of airguns within the county. [OCCOO Title 3 Division 2]

Anaheim Municipal Code 6.32.070
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, within the corporate limits of the City of Anaheim, to fire or discharge from any air gun, any shot, slugs, metal, bullets or hard substances.

"If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun." - Dalai Lama (Seattle Times, 05-15-2001).

The R7 shoots lead pellets and not steel BBs hence very little risk of ricochets. If you build a pellet trap with rubber mulch or plumbers putty you can safely shoot in your kitchen. No risk of lead dust. Personally I get a lot more annoyed with airsoft BBs, no matter what pellet trap I use I will always get flyers all over the garage.
