Default Bolt Action Rifle Sling for PRS/competition type shooting...any recommendations?

Hi, would like to learn more about shooting bolt action rifle using a sling....ideally something that would help me stabilize for positional shooting, off hand shooting etc.

I'd appreciate recommendations as to what to look for, what to avoid and any specific makes or models that work well for you.

I looked at the rifles only model and it's pretty darn expensive but i have no real reference.

thank you

To be honest I haven't seen much use of slings with PRS/Precision Rifle events aside from the occasional "hasty sling" in standing offhand. Time constraints and moving from each position influences the decision to skip using it. Almost all have a sling, but they get used to carry the rifles between stages.

i sure appreciate the insight and recommendations.

it's becoming ever more difficult for me to support the rifle when not prone and so thought perhaps a sling might help, at least somewhat.

I hear you on that. The Blue Force/Vickers sling, standard or padded, is a pretty decent sling for the price. It quickly and easily adjusts length for use. Many other slings get complicated with loops and cuffs or the hardware isn't easily adjusted for length.

I really like The Blue Force/Vickers sling. There are some good you tube videos on them

A sling does have a place in PRS. No, you aren't going to use it a ton, but when you need it you will be glad you have it. I keep one in my pack at all times.

Armageddon gear or Short Action Precision. Both have a cuff and offer a quick way out. AG has bungie while the SAP does not. I have and use both, usually carry the AG just because I've had it forever and there is comfortability there. Bungie can be the best and worst feature ever, sometimes even during the same stage.

Whatever you get, dont forget to actually practice with it. You may only pull it out of your pack 4 times a year for those pointless offhand stages, but when you do, you really, really want to know how to use it.
