Default Turner's, Howa1500 .308 Tactical 24" Heavy BBL, $299.86

Excellent price for phenomenal out of the box accuracy.
The fall catalog just came out and has these on sale for $299.86. My local store is honoring the sale price even though it doesnt start until 8/9. They come with subMOA guarantee and lifetime warranty. Excellent base action for a precision build. CHF 24" heavy threaded barrel.
https://www.turners.com/howa/howa-m1...win-24--725324

They also got LMT Defender stripped receivers for $99.86.

Not a chance. The central coast or valley is the closest any Turner's will ever get to SF.

Just to have something different. LMT is a premium lower, $99 is as cheap as those ever get. I dont really need any more Anderson's and Aeros.

I have a Howa Stainless in 6.5x55. I love the rifle. Just a caution to you upgraders, the barrels have metric threads which means that few gunsmiths will want to work on them. At least that has been my experience. For the occasional hunter, this rifle will last a life time.

Good to know. I bet your 6.5 shoots like a laser. I like Howa specifically because I think their factory barrels are superb and I dont think I'll ever wear one out. And if I do, hopefully, I can pick up another barreled action for $300-$400. Thats probably cheaper than buying a custom barrel and having a gunsmith install it anyway. Maybe the metric sizing factors in to the price on these guns.

Cant go wrong with CHF Japanese steel.

Short video on why Howa's are so inherently accurate.

"Difficult"? I have no idea. I never use a bore scope. I just mount an optic like any other rifle and take it to the range and start sighting it in at 50yds, then 100yds. If Im not on paper at 50yds (rare), I move down to 25yds. Should take less than one box of ammo to have it sighted in for 100yds.

Trying to find a reason not to buy this, I have a hunting rifle in 30.06, I really don’t want another caliber to stock. But looking at getting into some longer range shooting and this seems too cheap to pass up. Decisions Decisions

Not difficult at all, just pickup a .308 laser bore sight cartridge from Ebay under $10 delivered. Chamber the bore sight cartridge, point the laser dot at a clear flat surface like a building wall in the distance . Do this at night so the laser dot is visible. Adjust your scope's windage & elevation to coincide with the projected laser dot. This should get you at least on paper after this procedure depending on the stack-up of tolerances/ alignments of your individual scope, rings and mounting bases.

The Howa 1500 in 308 was my first rifle when I turned 18 and I still shoot it from time to time. Solid rifle at a great price.

Wish I had a real reason to buy this....never had a .308

Getting to Burro Canyon takes me 75 minutes driving....on a good day....90 minutes on bad days. I’d probably only shoot it once or twice a year.

Can I CCW this? Will it penetrate walls in home defense?

Inherited just under 1000 Hornady match BTHP bullets and 250 pieces of Starline .308 brass a couple years ago, and this looks a fine excuse to start loading them.
