Default What was your first purchase after freedom?

So, fellow California escapees, what was the first purchase you made after you got out?

Me, I can't recall exactly. I think it was the Sig Rattler:

Yes, the can and the Sig M17 was much later. Thinking I will SBR it, but I have a few ahead in the queue.

This B&T USW-A1 was also an early freedom purchase:

Again, the can and the tax stamp was a bit later.

What's yours?

SIG P-938 for carry. Then an 11.5" AR pistol for a truck gun, just because.

My memory isn't what it used to be so I have a question for you Howie. Weren't you the person who shot at my 14" circular plate at a long ago SSZS and hit the head of the bolt holding the plate to the 5' pole. The round actually broke the head of the bolt and knocked the plate off and to the ground. Whoever it was, they were able to reattach everything so we could continue to shoot at it. I recall you, if you were the one, continued to apologize even tho I said it was no big deal. I thought it was a really good shot. I replaced the bolt with one a few grades harder (from a 5 to a 8 IIRC) when I got back home.

If it was in fact you, I wasn't aware you had moved out of state. Good for you. I'd be gone also but with the kids and 12 grandkids local, wife says nope.

Yes sir. That was me. My eyes were much better then. And I could still shoot like that.
My wife also remembers some very pleasant conversations she had with you during the event.

But yes, we moved to Idaho 2 years ago with 4 of our 5 kids, and are now giving them the life and future they deserve.

Two 13 round mags for my EDC (HK P2000) followed by an HK P30sk. I'm going to SBR my 9mm PCC when I get time.

Pretty pedestrian but I bought a new 9mm M&P Shield from North 40 for $238 OTD during their store grand opening sale in Lewiston. I have carried it daily since.

My first gun purchase was a AR9 PDW, that led me into an AR15 pistol, and now an AR-10 pistol. Will start the process to acquire suppressors here soon. Loving life in a free state!

Glock 40. I have been wanting one since February while still a resident of California; the day I got my license was the day I went to go get it.

The other gun pictured with the Glock is my H&K USP Elite, purchased in California in March (my second gun).

I picked up a Ruger LCP .380 for pocket carry. With the 7-shot magazine, I can get a much better grip and can get surprising accuracy from it.

I think next week I'll go ahead and pick up a 12ga Mossberg 590 Shockwave. I've been reloading short 12ga shells and look forward to experimenting with some new loads to up the round-count in the tube. Unfortunately, I can't bring the Shockwave along when I visit in CA..

Technically my first purchase was a $200.00 stamp. Hold on this has history to it.

I was involved in the infamous Iggy incident where Ten Percent Firearms drove to San Jose to take pre-orders for lower receivers. This gun is one of those first OLLs that entered into CA and I had to drive from Sacramento to Taft to pick it up after DROS.

The first thing I did when I moved to freedom was file a form 1 to SBR it.

After buying some 30 round Pmags, I picked up a S&W 642, then a G30SF. Yeah, it may be ironic that my first two were on roster pistols, but I got satisfaction by buying them from a dude in the forum and meeting up in the Best Buy parking lot.

That is a cool ending for one of the first CA off list lowers!

I’m still undecided if I want to SBR one of my current BBRAWs, a Bren 805. I do not want to completely rule out the possibility of ever living full time in CA ever again and if I do, I want to keep whatever I legally possessed in 2016.

My option is to get another Bren 805 and SBR it, but CZ stopped making them and I have to decide before the supply runs dry.

Thanks, it's very UMP looking now

I bought the Scorpion to scratch the MP5 itch but that didn't work.. ended up shelling out the cash for an MP5 and now I never shoot the Scorpion, I've considered selling it but I'll have to eat the $200.00 tax stamp on it so I just keep it in the safe and bring it out when friends come to visit.

My first purchases were just parts to make my featureless ARs and AK into free-state configuration.

I haven't bought a gun yet (just got my WY DL) but I'm looking into a Sig P365 or Springfield's new Hellcat subcompact that ships in January.

Upgraded to Florida.

Purchased a G19X and a G43X. Plus replaced my AR bullet buttons with standard magazine releases.

I have both as well and although the cz is a nice weapon, it definitely ain’t no mp5.
Both of mine are set up as pistols with collapsible tail hook braces instead of sbr.

My first freedom purchase, and I sold off about 20% of my gun collection for the down payment, was a 1983 Mooney M20J. I am getting checked out in the new to me plane next week. Then I will be cleared to move about the country (again).

Once I had lived in OR for 6 months and became an official resident I went down to the Jackson County Sheriff's office and got my Concealed Carry permit.
