Default Kydex knife sheath safe for ironwork?

Gonna start edcing my bk eskabar for work but given the nature of my job(i'm super hard on all my tools and the sheath will also be exposed to molten steel falling onto/ possibly into it as well) I was wondering if i should make a leather sheath for it or if kydex would be fine. I'd rather go kydex because it's way quicker to make and my new living situation makes it difficult to find room or time for leather working but it is still feasible if i have to, and I already know leather holds up to the daily abuse of being attached to an ironworker. i just dont have much experience with hard use on kydex and was wondering what it'll take.
