Default Why are you still in California?

Your government (and, yes, San Francisco is essentially "your government") has declared that you are someone who has no rights, who should be hunted down and killed on sight, that there should be no due process. Because that's what a terrorist is. CA is now essentially Germany in the early '30s. How many people wished to God they'd gotten out of Germany by about 1938? How long until they change their tune from "NRA members" to "gun owners" to "Republicans"?

Why on Earth would you stay?!?!

I share this feeling. My family has been in this state for over 120 years and I am prepared to stay and fight.

I'll stay and try to make it better. Fleeing isnt going to help. You're not going to meet Cindy Crawford in Delaware.

Tomorrow night I fly to Vegas to look at 4 houses and hopefully make an offer on one. The toughest part of the decision was having to resign my position at my gun club.

This state needs a do-over.

Vegas is fun but don’t overlook the Reno/Sparks area. I’ve spent a lot of time in This area lately and it is an amazing area. And Vegas is slowly turning into an LA annex.

Gotta ride the real estate wave and make money while the making is good.

We already have a townhouse in Vegas so we know the area. It's a 4-5 year layover before moving further East and going to Texas, or Oklahoma, the part of Texas that went to high school.

Because my wife has a 15 year old son from a previous marriage with shared custody. Dad is not so keen on his son moving to Free America or anywhere else he wouldn't have "control" over him, even though the son very much dislikes CA and wants to move.

All 3 of us have already "left CA" mentally, unfortunately it's just going to take another few years to do so physically.

Well, other than the hyperbole of your post, since I do have guns and a CCW license....

Born/raised, schooled, family in SoCal for my 63 years, wife/stepson have roots from nearby Mexico, 1 year of work left, weather is the best, love my house situation. My life is GREAT, other than the withering gun rights and occasional spastic Cali intrusiveness.

Just starting to explore whether I could MENTALLY move from my life's existence, or not.......

You can stand and fight, but running only delays it. Look at the role CA politicians play on the national level. If no none here is fighting them it will spread even faster. At some point you have to take a stand unless you are old enough to think you can run away and avoid it til you die.

Beaches, mountains, nice weather. Sometimes I think we have Russian spy accounts trying to rile us up. Not today. So I ignore them. Take California’s good with the bad. If I leave California it won’t be because of guns or politics. The grass has different shades everywhere you go

The government is going to kill us with no due process? Is this happening already? If so, share some links. I haven't heard anything about this yet. Maybe we could report this to the NRA and see if they can help us.

SF is not my government and after 60 years no one is running me out of my home no matter how many special interest laws that are passed. Maybe california will be my alamo and if it is then so be it. I refuse to surrender to the people I pay to serve me not control me. if the government wants lives then how many are they willing to give up? The government failed to keep guns out of the hands of crazies and criminals when they decided to take guns from everyone and make it impossible for the average citizen to defend themselves immediately. This is a fight for armed control and we are fighting to stay free by arming ourselves.

I have a job I really like and a nothing spectacular but nice house with no mortgage and I like the weather.

Now, in a 2 or 3 years when i retire, the only thing keeping me here will be the weather, i can afford to stay since i have no mortgage but i can also sell and buy elsewhere and have money left over. The only question is when do i retire.

Other states in the West are quickly turning Blue.

Texas will be blue in 5 years
Oregon is more screwed up than Kali.
Washington is bad.
Idaho is nice now. But, give it 10 years. It will be blue too.
Even Arizona is slowly turning blue.
Colorado is blue.
New Mexico is hell on earth.

Get the picture? You can move now. But, don't expect it to last. Too many snowflake kids voting for socialism / Marxism.

I recommend you harden yourself up for the upcoming purge of all things conservative when the Demoncrats retake the Federal government. Get fit. Get out of debt. Get prepared.

They want to kill you and everything you stand for.

I think as a wave of conservatives head for Arizona those trends may not go the way some expect.

We're here because my wife's career is here. It doesn't truly exist elsewhere. We've got 21 years to go. Out of state property will be purchased before that date hits. We'll see how AZ trends.

Nevada is probably screwed. Idaho? Eh. Don't see that happening.

I plan to retire in seven years at most. More likely five years.
Then we leave....

I "stood & fought" for 60 years.
I'm going to relax for the remaining years here in AZ.
If need be, I'll help hold the line at the Colorado River.
Ironically, as conservative as I am (very), most of my neighbors are right of me.
Even more ironic, 99% of them are from SoCal.

We left. I was retired, my wife is self employed. Leaving was difficult, the wife is 3rd Generation SF Bay Area. If we had stayed to fight the "good fight" we would lose. You are fighting against the population of California that has willingly elected the idiots that are running the state. I'll be dead before we see the Titanic called California change course. For those that stay, good luck.

If it acts like a duck, quakes like a duck, it's a duck.

"It's California, we don't pay attention to the Constitution"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totalitarianism

"Totalitarianism is a political concept of a mode of government that prohibits opposition parties, restricts individual opposition to the state and its claims, and exercises an extremely high degree of control over public and private life. It is regarded as the most extreme and complete form of authoritarianism. Political power in totalitarian states has often been held by rule by one leader which employ all-encompassing propaganda campaigns broadcast by state-controlled mass media. Totalitarian regimes are often marked by political repression, personality cultism, control over the economy, restriction of speech, mass surveillance and widespread use of state terrorism. Historian Robert Conquest describes a "totalitarian" state as one recognizing no limits to its authority in any sphere of public or private life and which extends that authority to whatever length feasible."

""The officially proclaimed ideology penetrates into the deepest reaches of societal structure and the totalitarian government seeks to completely control the thoughts and actions of its citizens".[9] It also mobilizes the whole population in pursuit of its goals. Carl Joachim Friedrich writes that "a totalist ideology, a party reinforced by a secret police, and monopoly control of [...] industrial mass society" are the three features of totalitarian regimes that distinguish them from other autocracies."

Landlords are evil must have Price Controls.

Gun Owners are evil must be eradicated.

White People are evil must be eliminated.

Am I hearing excuses or reasons why people are not fighting since they are "stuck" here? I have owned property in Colorado for close to 30 years and i still have not bailed out because this is home to me and worth fighting for. I may have property in Nevada soon but it will not be the same. I refuse to let a bunch of illegals, homeless, drug addicts, and general losers run me off from my home. That is why we fight for the second amendment. To have the right to defend ourselves immediately and not through corrupt courts that twist our bill of rights to suit popular opinion.

I left 2-1/2 years ago, and I felt like a Jew fleeing Germany ca 1933. Then, as now, the craziness is going to spread, but sooner or later it will be pushed back, just like last time.

medical issues keep me here. One in particular (bulging discs) makes traveling anything over a few miles in a vehicle a problem.

Been in SOCAL since 1971. Wife and I recently moved from Inland Empire to N. San Diego county to get away from the congestion and get closer to daughter. We found 5 acres of avocado trees and truly love the peace and quiet, fresh air, and temperate weather. As we put mileage on our senior citizen journey, we find these attributes gain importance.
