I've got a question for you guys who paint your AR's with rails. Do you leave the rails on when you paint? Or do you take them off at paint seperately? Do you paint the barrel and gas tube under the rail as well? This thread makes me want to paint mine.
I don't recommend painting the barrel or the gas tube. I've seen paint burned black, but that was after 210 rounds in under one minute. I'd slide a piece of paper underneath the rail to cover the barrel and gas tube before you paint it.

A while back I did this Mosin Nagant stock with wood stain with several coats over it.... It does look a bit camouflaged.

Thanks!

I was wondering, what do you guys use as a stencil for the scale pattern?

Here are a couple of pics of my 6.5 Grendel. JonMalibuSS on here did the camo job. It is Duracoat, their ABU colors, and using BulldogArms digital camo stencils.

I took the plunge, it came out pretty good. Although I wasn't intending it, the camo job came out very "Gary Gordon". It's a bit dark but it works, I might redo it again but with "sand" and not "brown" over khaki.

First try at a paintjob, Yugo SKS, and it's not all that bad... pics are thumbnails.

And before the bubba police come out, I did keep the original wood stock. It's in great condition actually, I'm afraid of messing it up, hence the cheap plastic one for now.

The FAl was done a while ago and is showing it's wear nicely.

The Middy was just done today.

Here's my COD4 commemorative M4gery. LMT Carbine upper, KD Calguns Bear lower. It was my beater rifle, but after getting 150 headshots, I just had to upgrade it.

And it comes right off w/ some brake cleaner so no worries.
