The MG Ultra Low Vis with Triple M4 Mag looks interesting of what is left in stock, but @ same price as a Slickster... I think the strap adjustments on a Slickster seem more thought out.

I've had good luck with Kota Outfitters. They even included a pocket Constitution with my orders.

Esstac are good people. They sell Hesco. You can't go wrong with Highcom, LTC, Hesco, or RMA. They all have proven track records.

An older tech relic that seems to be highly regarded, but I personally feed standard armor designs are better

Both are likely very capable. I haven't tested any Highcom hard armor, but I think Andrew has in the past. Which one is cheaper? The 4S17m has an active 10 yr CPL listing, but Hesco's 4400 is not CPL listed right now. I might error to the Highcom then

Recently have some interactions with John Sun of Apex Armor Solutions. Very active with his clients and on various reddit threads about armor. His prices are fantastic, and he'll personally help you choose what's best for you, not what makes him the most money. Helped me into a custom bundle of plates and carriers and saved me a bunch of money. Thought I'd drop a link here in case some of y'all are worried (like me) about the various senate bills and assembly bills worming through excremento looking to ban civilians from owning body armor.

I did a search before posting so I'm not sure if Apex has been name-dropped in this thread before. Apologies if it has.

Appreciate you and all your work you've put in. Been subscribed to you channel for a while now. Do you know the background and history of Adept? Are they still you're #1 ranking lv4 atm?

These might be the one!

Found him through reddit too, and he spent a bunch of time helping me parse through some of the chaff out there, as well as recommended a lower-priced combo than what I had initially planned on buying because the lower priced combo was a better overall manufacture. I'll report back when everything arrives if it's up to snuff and quality.

Don't know much more than they were called Diamond Age at one point, and that company still exists. Not sure if they split off, or what. They are still currently the top of the performance list for level IV.

Default BODY ARMOR: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

Buffman, what do you think about Bulletproof Everyone? I wear it when doing church security so as not to stand out. I have a Safe Life that is more bulky and a bit less concealable. Supposedly both are IIIA-ish. The Safe Life is NIJ tested, the other one I saw a guy shoot himself with it.

I don't see anything glaring wrong with Bulletproof Everyone's offerings. I would love to test and validate them. I hope to have some SafeLife Hyperline stuff to test soon

Everything arrived last week from John as promised and paid for.

Everything was essentially drop-shipped from the manufacturers. Carrier direct from Shellback, plates direct from Highcom. Exactly what I ordered, quick, fair and clean.

Apex Armor solutions is good to go as far as I'm concerned. Already planning my next purchase.

Default BODY ARMOR: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

I think I may have learned in this thread or elsewhere about duct tape being used in homemade armor.

I have an AR500 plate that was made for backpacks and is pretty heavy, so not really super viable for EDC backpack use. It?s good to wear in a backwards facing backpack and donned quickly for bedside use. Idea was that hopefully I wouldn?t give my back to an aggressor and quick donning was paramount.

It has some sort of anti spall build up coating but I covered it with crisscrossing duct tape because internet lore says spalling on steel plates will slice open the jugular or carotid and it didn?t seem like it would hurt to add duct tape.

I guess I could buy a spall sleeve instead.

I have it backed with two trauma pads. Not sure if that helps with impact or not.

Thumbs up Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your depth of knowledge with respect to body armor. I have been planning to purchase for ages, but have not felt that I had sufficient information. You know how it is... everyone wants to sell you something.

I REALLY appreciate the time and thought that went into creating your thread.

Respectfully,

JP

These are basically a one time deal. They were made for the SOCOM contract that LTC won, and from my understanding this individual bought all of the materials to finish the plates from that company that didn't win. https://bit.ly/3PLRRzM
A Reddit follower was nice to send one over. Overall it's a solid RF2 plate and can handle M855A1, but not M80A1 at 22" barrel velocities

Adept Thunder RF2. Capable of stopping max velocity M855 and M80. Will not stop M855A1 though. As always "armorking" earns me a little bit of cheddar to buy more exotic ammo, and this time clay

When you need CQB protection against 50 BMG.. LOL
No idea if they will produce these, but Adept has a 3lb RF2 plate, and the standard Colossus. If needed "Buffman" is the code that gives back to me to buy more insane ammo, and clay ! https://bit.ly/41jcTcs

RMA has introduced their FSAPI plate, model 1118. This has a HUGE curve to accommodate the goods. Performance wise very much like the 1155!

I am now a little better setup to do crazy off the wall 50 BMG armor demos Now I don't have to rely on the poor accuracy of M33 ball, I can download the ammo to get a velocity spec
