Default US life expectancy in 2020 saw biggest drop since WWII

Well I guess we're starting to see the reality of virus deaths.

Be interesting how the death deniers explain this!

It's not necessarily about an increase in deaths.

Lifetime expectancy is about the age at which the death(s) occurred.

Insofar as the total deaths, they are probably correct in terms of the total. What they didn't mention is the trend that total deaths have been increasing annually and 3.3 million is a bit outside the average annual increase.

2013... 2,596,993
2014... 2,626,418
2015... 2,712,630
2016... 2,744,248
2017... 2,813,503
2018... 2,839,205
2019... 2,854,838

Using their figures... 3.3 million times 11% equals 363,000; i.e., fairly close to the estimate of how many died of COVID. However, what they didn't note...

Quote:
...In comparison, 2,854,838 people died in 2019, meaning at least 572,000 more people died in 2020 than 2019 according to preliminary estimates. Using the estimate of the 2020 population from the Census Bureau, the death rate in 2020 was 10.4 deaths per 1,000, the highest death rate since 1943. However, the recent population estimate does not incorporate the results of the 2020 Census...
In other words, there were also, ostensibly, approximately 209,000 deaths not related to COVID, a number that also falls well outside the average from 2013 - 2019.

What is interesting from that reference is the comparison to the Spanish Flu. 10.4 deaths per 1,000 during COVID and 13.9 deaths per 1,000 during the Spanish Flu. Okay. But, if you look at the 1920's - 1930's, even with COVID, the deaths per 1,000 didn't equal most years from 1923 - 1943; the bulk of those years being during the Great Depression.

It kinda makes one wonder about the deaths related to 'social issues' vs. the actual virus; bearing in mind the myriad discussions we've had regarding how "deaths from COVID" are potentially different from what is actually reported by the CDC as "deaths with COVID."

In short, numbers are numbers and statistics are statistics. But, how those numbers and statistics are reported is significant in terms of the interpretation you are intended to draw from them.

Interesting article and it points to a massive number of deaths in the younger ages which were not susceptible to COVID. It has been reported drug overdoses were up ~30% in 2020 over the 2019 numbers, and I am guessing there is going to be a huge increase in suicides when 2020 suicide numbers are finally reported. It sure looks like the lockdowns had a huge influence on unexpected deaths in 2020.

And with the largest generation population (baby boomers) coming of age - increased numbers have been expected.

That's why mental fortitude and spiritual awareness have been paramount from the beginning.

Many of us called this well over a year ago.

The poor of our neighbors south of the border have a lower life expectancy than we have traditionally had. They didn't miraculously gain an increased life expectancy when they crossed the border. That may not be the whole answer but in could well play a part.

Totalitarian governments get people killed. This is news?
