Default Shopping for a RMR for my new handgun

I bought a Buckmark Lite Gray 22LR URX w/ 7.25 fluted barrel today. I’ll have it in 10 days or so. Already have the rail ordered & I’d like to put a small reflex open red dot on it. Plan is to dabble in 7 & 10 yard timed plate shoot competition. My mind is about to blow up over the choices. Lots of cheap stuff & a lot of pricey stuff too. I found one I like due to it’s small size & how low it seems to sit. It’s the Nikon P-Tactical Spur Reflex Sight. Here are the specs. Crazy battery life at 14,000 hours.
https://www.nikonsportoptics.com/en/...ical-spur.html

Anyone own this & have practical experience? Bass Pro has it on sale for $100 off MSRP which puts it at $119.97
Opinions?

Looks like a pretty solid sight and all reviews seem to be good. The Vortex Venom can be found for less than $200 most of the time.

The Nikon is the same $119 on Amazon which seems like a great deal if you have an Amazon card. Might pick one up to try out on a semi auto 12ga.

$119 is pretty good. I have one on something. A SIG522 IIRC. I like the FF3, RMR, HS507C... but if the free FF3's are not around that's a great price. Research the lowest mount possible. I had a low mount installed on a FF3 for a while on a rail mount on MKII and it was pretty high... now have the FF3 plate in the dovetail of MKII and it is so much nicer and very low. Research how to get a RMR style sight on a specific minimal plate to get it low before putting it on a generic low mount on a pic rail... or consider tube style. HS503GU, Vortex Crossfire RD-1, etc...

There’s 2 EBAY sellers that claim to be Nikon dealers that also have it for $119
The Vortex does seem lower. Never mind- pics of Vortex are with no weaver base.

I'm saying don't use a weaver or pic rail... another bit of info is that the included NIKON PIC RAIL low mount won't fit a Weaver base like a FF3 or almost any other included rail mount will. FYI. SPUR fits the PIC rail only.

What I am saying is try to go with a mount specific for the bare sight you have. Like this for a FF3:

https://www.burrisoptics.com/mountin...astfire-mounts

Your RMR style sight bolts right to the plate... no low mount, no pic rail... really as-intended IMHO.

There is no Browning buck mark option. The one I have has 2 mounting holes for a rail when you remove the sight rail.
Here’s the one I bought w/ the rear sight rail.

And here it is with the factory sight rail removed & scope rail installed on a 5.5 barrel gun.

Yeah Buckmarks are different I guess. Maybe a rail is more universal but you can still find dedicated mount plates if you know which rds you will use. Burris might not have one but I bet there are quite a few for such a popular gun. Here’s one:

2 year battery life, wow that’s good for a reflex sight. I’m gonna have to pick one up. Reviews state they’ve used this on 12 gauge as well as 44 mag and it continues to work.

No problem. I just saw it recently, I am sure there are more like that. I didn't know about all the options for the Ruger either. When I put a rds on my MKII there were only rails.

If I got a Buckmark, I'd get one of those plates or one similar and use a FF3 or SPUR probably.

The FF3 uses the same battery as the SPUR and is rated up to 5 years battery life.

That plate works for all the rds AFAIK... SPUR, FF3, RMR, etc...

Will work on that model rail.

Tactical...is clue I did not pick up on.
For some reason Nikon decided to use a short screw into a squared off mount.
So it will not fit my .22LR as others had complained about.
Square peg into a round hole.
The ones that noted the problem should of explained why it did not fit.
This would help more than giving 1 star.
Soooooo......

Going on my 12g.

Maybe down the road someone will make adapter plate for it.
Only found one for a Glock.

I discussed with pics when I tried putting it on a WEAVER BRAND and spec rail in another thread... Fast Fire III's fit both WEAVER and PICATINNY / MIL-STD-1913. Doesn't matter if it is squared off. Spacing is not wide enough on WEAVER.

Thank you, Crufflers.
Did not think to check any others since it fit the 12g.
Thinking about going "MosinVirus" on the rail.
Did not see your post but at $104.00 still would of purchased it.

Went "MosinVirus" seeing his video gave me the courage to try

Steves32 did you buy the Nikon?
What did you decide on?
I am starting lower budget to see if I like them vs. sights.
Will get very $$$$$ fitting all my handguns.

No. I bought the OuterImpact plate & the Vortex Venom w/ 6moa dot. EZ install, works great! Very low too. I also bought the B-Square #42214 rail mount but didn’t need it. The Venom comes with the rail mount but I direct mounted it to the plate instead. It sits a little lower this way. I liked the Venom’s lifetime warranty.

Post some pictures if you can. I'd like to see that mount with a sight.

My cousin has the Buckmark 7.25" Lite and he got a pic rail so his is not that low. Too bad I didn't know about a plate for it when he got his. Actually he's running a TRS-25 so that might be the only option to run the tube style, but I dunno.

One mod that will be happening real soon is an extended mag release. Difficult to reach & doesn’t extend out far enough IMO.
