Default BB gun recommendations

So I want to buy a BB gun for a birthday present. I asked his mom and she is fine with it. I need a recommendation, when I was a kid I had the standard daisy. Still good, or is cross man better or is there a manufacturer that I don’t know about?

Thanks
Joe

Read reviews.

I like this over of the lever action ones to kids ready for a pump action shotgun.

At $40, I’d probably get a lever action one too.

Don’t forget about eye protection, BBs and targets.

I started my son off with a Daisy lever action. Then a cross man pump. But within a very short time he was into handguns, particularly the co2 blowback type

This!

My 85-year-old Mom has a really old Red Ryder. I recently took a picture of her holding it with that beautiful carved stock depicting Red Ryder. My 30-something kids said, "We have a Red Ryder BB Gun in the family!" Future Estate court battle is-a-brewing...

When I got a Daisy #25 (pump) ,I was 11yrs old and had to place the butt on the ground and use my body weight to cock it by holding the pump handle and squatting. Just something to consider!

You've grown so go with more accuracy and better trigger.

This is what you need...

I have one - at 25ft you can do a clover leaf hole all day... Ultra accurate, no joke.
Plus its easy to cock, has peep sights and quiet...

You can see my Red Ryder shot spread to the Daisy Avanti's clover leaf...!

Get a Crosman 1322 or 1377 and add the rifle stock.

Very accurate, easy to mod, durable.

Wow, a Red Ryder is that crappy? I recall always hitting a 12 oz soda can standing, shooting as fast as possible. Prob not 25 feet though. More than 30 years ago too.

I might get my kid a lever springer under 400 FPS... but now I don't want the $40 one. Thanks a lot.

Geesh, so the Match Grade is $135 shipped one-day from Amazon, and the Red Ryder is $25. I will Probably see if a Red Ryder will hit spinners on my trap at 10-15 feet. Is the Match one BB at a time and you have to stop to load the next one or is there a reservoir?

Amazon or Walmart won't ship airguns apparently (Sac, or Butte County - two I tried)... will have to go to Walmart and pick one up this weekend.
