HERO11 Black Mini with a new 1-year GoPro Subscription¹

What the hell is a subscription? I gotta pay monthly in the future for that subscription?

I don't think it's required but this one feature could make it worthwhile if you're using it for extreme sports.

GoPro Subscription Benefits:
No-questions-asked camera replacement

Check the differences from the Regular size to the Mini. One big difference is that the battery is not removeable from the mini. There are also other things that can be a no-no for you choosing the mini. Use the Compare page below and add the Mini into the fray!

I’ve had about 6 GoPro’s starting with a 960. Video quality was always great and leads the industry, in the action camera realm. However, none of them ever had great functioning firmware, which affects functionality of certain features…quite annoying. Not to mention, that the battery life really sucked in the cold.

Always check consumer complaints regarding GoPro subscriptions. Apparently these can be continuously renewing, and virtually impossible to stop/get refunded.

GoPro is no longer the only kid on the block as far as technology, image quality, etc. While I've never been roped into one of their bogus subscriptions, I know that I have purchased my last GoPro product. Won't support a scamming company.

Have you tried any other brands? Any recommendations other than GoPro?

I have an older GoPro and always found the interface too clunky to be usable. So I never use it. Newer versions might be easier and more intuitive now, but I'd rather not give my money to a big lefty company like GoPro.

Depends on what type of video you want to capture, and in what conditions. IMO, GoPro is still the industry leader for the most rugged & "hardcore" action cameras.

I have a GoPro Hero 5 and a Hero 9 (which is similar to a Hero 10 & 11). I've used a DJI Osmo Action 3 camera and have tried out an Insta360 One RS, and also an Insta360 One X2.

IMO, the GoPro is the toughest camera if you're doing some extreme sports or recording, but the One RS is also right up there close to it but costs a bit more than the GoPro Hero. I thought the Osmo Action was kind of a lesser GoPro actio cam, but it still worked well but I would trust my GoPro more when snowboarding, downhill mtb, and attaching it to the side of my car.

The One X2 360 camera is a completely different type of camera and competes more against the GoPro Max, but the Max is expensive. However, if I wanted an 'heavy duty' 360 cam I would go with the GoPro Max over the Insta360 as the build quality is noticeable between the two.

Thanks for all that info! I guess I'll just have to grin and bear buying another GoPro then. Probably the 10 or 11. My uses are similar to yours.

Well if is said it on the internet it MUST be TRUE:
Have you actually used one or just read the internet???

I shoot USPSA and 20+ people that I know of have been using them in matches for quite awhile now with no problems.

A 5-stage USPSA match where it's only on for a total of 10 minutes is fine.

It's not fine for a 4 hour mountain bike ride, a 4 hour whitewater kayaking run, or an 8 hour day on the slopes.

Although, not a action cam, I have used the DJI gimbal for iPhone and the Pocket. Both are easy to connect and easy ti use. So, I would assume that the DJI action Cam would interface seamlessly. Also, just got a Insta360 One X2 (haven’t used it in the filed yet), but the interface seems to be flawless and fairly easy to use.

Yes, connection issues has always been the biggest turn off for me with GoPro.
