After going to a "gun violence" community seminar last fall I'd like to list a few tips for those planning on attending.

- "Growing epidemic of gun violence" will be a given. State loud and clear that crimes, including those involving guns, are down approximately 50% over the last 25 years except for one category. Inform everyone about the growing epidemic of illegal alien violence. Also note how dems support and encourage said epidemic.

- Expect "common sense gun control" to dominate. Point out that common sense border security is far more effective in reducing crime (remind the attendees again of the growing epidemic of illegal alien violence).

- The NRA may come up. If its mentioned that the NRA buys off congress, please state that the NRA does no such thing, that congress votes the way it does because that is what the constituents want. Much like the way New York, Virginia and New Mexico radicalized abortion options - because the dems in those states want birth canal abortion and infantcide.

- And of course, the plea to think of the safety of the children will be heard. At this please inform all attending that with the dems salivating over birth canal abortion and infanticide, no doubt they will soon be legalizing (and requiring) child sacrifice. This proves that a democrat is far more deadly to a child then any gun could ever be.

Looks like no one attended.

I went. Typical Progressive BS. If you had a question or comment fill out a card. Try to comment otherwise & get shutdown. Not all cards read. Totally worthless trip.

Back in the day, I went to a few of these council meetings in different towns. I quickly learned that there was no room for discussion or opposite views of the agenda. I didn't attend, but a number of my friends went to the last Chabot meeting before the final vote and it didn't matter if there were a hundred gun advocates in the room, the few leftists in the room controlled the process and and voted to close the range.

The only was to deal with this is to really FIGHT, in the literal sense. And we all know that will never happen.

Which is a good reason to go with the plan to disrupt the agenda. The left does this at every opportunity - there is no reason why we should not employ the same ( or worse) tactics.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
That ought to be the grievances anyone has, not the grievances the Congresscritters want to hear.

But not being a leftist loon, I don't know how to subvert the meeting into something more open.

Someone will read those cards. And they’ll know that not everyone in their district supports their gun-grabbing efforts.

You are fooling yourself if you think that those cards were useful beyond the scope of the fake townhall meeting. Id wager they went straight to the round file after the forum was done.

You put what you know they want to hear on the cards, then you go off script and drop truth bombs when your called to ask your question (but you still ask a question) .. Make sure your holding the microphone, and they can't pull it away..

Then you let them try to remove you, they will eventually remove you. You can video record the whole thing then post the video. This would show how biased the whole process is, that they really don't care what the other side has to say.

A friend did manage to voice disagreement over where the NRA is today. Congressman stated the NRA is different than years ago when they offered Gun Safety classes. Essentially trying to cast the NRA as the demon. He did manage to get a few words in but they shut him down pretty quickly. They also though out the US has the Highest murder rate in the world and I tried point out that Brazil among many others with "Gun Control laws had higher. Pretty much no response. I will say I had a conversation with a Lady from Moms Demand Action and we discussed our opinions without the acrimony normally associated with such discussions. She did not change my mind & I did not change hers but at least I got the point across that we are tired of the "death by a thousand bites" mentality. Oh well.

You shout from the audience. Sauce for the goose and all that.
I was attending a townhall on guns in Sunnyvale led by Mike Honda a couple years back. They wouldn't acknowledge hands raised and so I waited for a pause and loudly asked my question. This drew applause from like minded folks scattered in the audience and got others to do the same. The meeting sort of devolved but Honda was assured that not everyone agreed with him or his presenters.
Moral of the story?
Speak up and let your voice be heard.
