My Dad passed away ten years ago. I found this knife in a tool box of his long after his death. I never knew about it. But I can guess it's from the 50's as he was in the Uranium mining business in that era. Probably purchased it some where near Albuquerque NM. The blade was just left rough. Very nice figure to the wood handle. Nice waxed leather sheath. Not a marking to be found on either the knife or sheath, so not a commercially produced knife.

I wish I had more info on this knife. I wasn't aware he had it. I have his pickaxe from that time period that I have used extensively...
I have info on all of his guns that I have, as well as other stuff. But zero about this.

My Dad spent a good amount of time out in the wilderness in the area of Monticello Utah. Back in 2009 he gave me these arrowheads he found while out prospecting in that area.
He would have probably been carrying this knife.. I'm just heartbroken that I don't have the knives story. ![]() ![]()

Hey brother that’s a real nice knife. Its a shame there’s no makers mark on it .from the looks of it alone it was definitely made in the state’s .Hard to put a year on it but the sheath and blade look to be in good shape. I like how the blade was left in the rough other than the edge being finished . I like the figure in the wood, the concave shape handle was a style used a while back that isn’t popular now but fine knife makers such as Randall still have it in there catalog.I have a couple with that handle profile and it’s very comfortable.
I personally wouldn’t call it a Rudy Ruana style blade .His handles , hilts and butts were very distinct in profile .A large majority of his handles used cast brass and aluminum often in a similar style with stag as insert panels. |

OP's knife looks very similar to what Track of the Wolf (and other ML Shops) offer

If that’s a original tradesman knife from the mid-1700’s/1800’s and not a tribute you might have a four figure blade on your hands...I’d carry it in to the next Americana/knife/antique show in your area to get a professional look at it.
