Hello everyone. Realistically in a riot situation or antifa situation I think we will have more concerns about blunt trauma like a baseball bat or club or similar as compared to Firearms. First of all what do you think? Second of all what helmet is good and do you recommend? Third, I was looking at team Wendy bump helmet as the weight is better as compared to when that protects against firearms. But then I started thinking my mountain bike helmet is specifically designed for hard blunt trauma. In a situation where we are concerned about blunt trauma like a baseball bat. What do you think about simply buying a bike helmet?

The bike and skate helmets are designed to be destroyed on impact. It is how they absorb the impact energy. Maybe not all, but most. As to sustaining a full strike hit from a bat and continuing on, even with a military grade helmet, ballistic or other wise, your gonna get your bell rung, likely a concussion or cervical damage. You may not get a fractured skull but your gonna be out for the count. These helmets are not design to absorb that much impact energy, just prevent most penetrating injuries.

I?d just wear 3A concealable soft body armor and a black sweat shirt over it. I keep dark clothing in the trunk for this purpose.
You?ll stick out like a sore thumb with a ballistic type helmet and might draw more heat to yourself. Anyone beating you with a bat is going to take multiple swings. Maybe a reflective vest and a construction helmet might attract less attention. I would wear a Kevlar cowboy hat if they made one just for laughs. Just my (adjusted for inflation)$.02.

If I know ahead of time I might need a helmet because of a riot, my goal will be to be avoid that area rather then bring a helmet. I use a bump helmet for nods, level 3A helmets are more about shrapnel protection then firearm protection (though they can do some). If you are worried about antifa, I would avoid or get behind a locked door (building or car). In a riot if you look like you are ready for trouble, you will tend to find it.

A quality motorcycle helmet will absorb multiple strikes and keep on trucking. These are literally designed to protect your head and brain in the event of a vehicle incident (accident).
However, your best bet to avoid being hit in the head from a riot or antifa is not to be there in the first place. |

I would agree, don't put yourself in a bad place is the best course of action. |
