This is the latest scam trend: You post publicly on someone's for sale post, the scammer sees your comment, sends you a PM and states something like = you can reach the seller direct via the e-mail the scammer provides (which is the scammers e-mail) or my friend/fruncle/gynecologist has the same item you're looking for cheaper and provides you an e-mail.
In reality, you're corresponding with a scammer who will try to get you to send unsecured money that you have no chance of getting back for an item they do not have.

Typically, if it is too good to be true, most likely it is. Always vet itrader ratings and posts. I've been scammed on Craigslist unfortunately, but I've learned my lesson. I agree with all of what you said and appreciate the information on how to further prevent becoming a victim. ALWAYS LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK

Scammers contacting you directly
If someone looks up your email from your member's background page, then proceeds to make an offer by contacting you directly via email for goods based upon posts/offers/inquiries you've made on a listing, CONSIDER THEM A POTENTIAL SCAMMER.
DO NOT LET DOWN YOUR GUARD SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU SEE LE CREDENTIALS. Verify. I was almost fooled, but realized I needed to double-check with the DEPT in question, just to be sure. Sure enough.. Watch out for Galil Shooter.
I made a deal with him and paid him 12 days ago. He's been stringing me along saying he'll ship it, but still no tracking number. Every time I ask him to ship it, he says he will and still nothing. We agree on a deadline and it passes with no word from him.
