Default Questions for LAX Ammo?

I walked into your LAX store today and found a 500 round box of .223 (55gr. reload) for $189.99. I felt that was a bit high since I have recently been able to secure factory new rounds for around $0.25 a round. I totally understand that costs of manufacturing, etc, but when I look at your website, the same exact product of a 500 round box of .223 (55gr. reload) sells for $144.99. If you have read this far, you probably already know my question, but I actually have two;

1. Why, as someone local, am I paying a 24% markup to purchase in person?
2. Do you have an option to pay online and pick up in store like other retailers do?

The well informed never shop there. Maybe the parking lot sale once a great while but still not competitive vs online. No you may not pay online and pick up in person. Locals have to pay for shipping, ca tax the whole sheebang. I think their business model for the range cater towards visitors (close to lax) and affluent crowds who can afford ammo at full retail. As for the online business, they're targeting ship only model so they can save labor cost.

There is a friend I know who lives 5 minutes away and he has to pay for shipping no in-person pickup.

Don't sweat it, that's their thing, there are many other online retailers who are cheaper and ships for free.

Very true, but they are opening new stores in the OC and San Diego so it appears to be the business model to screw over us in California while still being competitive across the country and online. Why not open that to everyone here in California?

I left and purchased ammo at a local WalMart that was brand new, not reloads for $0.33 a round compared to the reloads they were selling for $0.379 a round. I would have easily paid the online price of $0.289 a round in person.
