Yup I thought I was going nuts because everything I read was saying no, but the AZ and NV site said showed yes.

So I was delighted to see on the AG of Nevada site that indeed the AZ Permit is also recognized. I emailed AZ DPS and they sent me a confirmation. Now, I just trained here in So Cal and from what it seems, I can take a scan of my certificate and my CCW from OCSD and send them to the AZ DPS CCW unit along with my completed application, finger print cards, and fee of $ 60 and that is all that is needed to get the AZ permit. I just wanted to confirm this with non FUD sharing members, thank you.

Well that is good to know. When I got my permits last year, that was not the case. Nevada was adamant about not excepting any other permits.

Received my permit yesterday.

45 Days from the time AZDPS received it. Maybe a little longer because of the holidays.

They are efficient and polite to talk to. Be patient and you should received it in less time than I.

I just emailed to Az. this morning requesting applications for myself and my wife. Within an hour I received a response that they had been mailed. I have a Ca. and Oregon permits. Do I just need them or do I also need the certificate of training. Thanks, Mark

AZ passed a Constitutional Carry Law that went into effect on July 29, 2010. This law means that as long as you are legally able to own a firearm and is 21 years of age or older, you can carry concealed in the State of Arizona without a concealed weapon permit. You still must abide by all concealed carry laws and off limit signs.

My Az permit was mailed to me last Friday, has not arrived yet, pony express is getting kind of slow.
Signed up for local permit here in N.Cal, then going to Nev to get one there, you never know when they will change their mind about accepting other states.

When did you apply for it?
Did they email to let you know that it had been approved, and when they mailed it, or did you ask them?
I have some travel to NV coming up and would like to have my AZ before I leave.
I sent mine in to AZ, they received it on 1/19. I also applied for NV, same reason as you, also NV (Clark County) seems to be taking around 4 months at the moment.

I applied in late Nov, they did not send notice so I called them and was told when it was mailed. Very nice folks at this number.

Hi I have a CA ccw and applied for an az non resident ccw. I know az allows carry in bars with ccw. Does this include non residents as well?

There is not an online course. Just take a NRA course and you are good to go.

When AZ was accepting online training states such as NV pulled their reciprocity. AZ decided to be more like Utah. I took a 4 hour in person class put on by an approved Utah instructor and it was also good for AZ. He was NRA approved. It was just classroom. Of course if you have a ccw from any state that would suffice for AZ. Honorable discharge from the service works also.

If I may - I am an Arizona CCW Instructor, AZ Licensed Armed Guard Instructor, and NRA Training Counselor. I've been a member of CalGuns for a number of years but haven't been on here in ages. I operate StarFire Tactical in Bullhead City on the Colorado River (Laughlin, NV).

If anyone has any questions about AZ law I will check in here more often and be happy to assist you with correct answers. If I am not sure of an answer I will say so and find out.

1) Online courses are NOT ACCEPTABLE in AZ as proof of training. They officially never were, however for awhile around 2010-12 (ish) some web sites popped up offering 30 minute online classes. DPS was slow in catching on, they eventually began disallowing their certificates and such programs are not acceptable today.

Also be aware there are periodically sites selling AZ permit packets for as much as $70. People think they are getting a certificate, they are not. I had two students scammed about 18 months ago - heck our 1/2 day AZ CCW class is only $60! DO NOT pay for the apps - they are FREE! Just email DPS - address on their web site (AZDPS.gov). Or if you are out this way please drop by our facility in Bullhead I will give you one for free - I get them by the box.

1A) There ARE legal "hybrid" online AND in-person classes available from a couple of legit trainers in the Phoenix area. You do the legal part online and meet at a range to shoot - even though AZ does NOT have a shooting qualification requirement since about 2011 or so. Their courses are legal and certifications are accepted to the best of my knowledge.

2) Actually NV pulled AZ reciprocity back around 2011 because we dropped our shooting qualification and therefore no longer met their old requirements.

2A) As of June 17, 2015 Nevada DOES accept Arizona permits (both for residents AND non-residents). This was a result of NV SB175 - an omnibus gun bill that did away with the infamous Las Vegas "blue card" handgun registration scheme, AND changed the NV CCW reciprocity law to read, "must have 'A' class and report to a national database," rather than the old law which was more or less, "must meet or exceed NV standards."

A companion law (I forget the bill number offhand) removed the "Police Chief's Association" from the reciprocity approval process. Prior this group had the final say in what states were approved or not. The decision process has been returned to NV DPS and the legislature, where it should have been all along.

NV has an annual review to determine if states meet their reciprocity requirements. AZ permits should maintain our accepted status on a permanent basis due to the NV law verbiage change. Or as permanent as any of these things go - CCW permits are like baseball cards - collect 'em all!

Hope this helps clear up any confusions.

PS - Bars or places that sell consumable alcohol: A permit holder can carry if the location is not "posted." There are specific posting requirements under ARS 4-229 sections A1 and E. Most locations I've seen are not legally posted and "technically" are not enforceable - however I do not recommend pushing the limits of the law unless you just like going to court.

In AZ even if you can legally carry in a bar, you MAY NOT CONSUME alcohol.

Carry in a "regular" businesses: There is no set format for posting. Failure to follow a "no guns" sign is grounds for a Third Class Trespass arrest (usually a citation to appear). Generally responding officers will verbally inform you prior to an arrest - HOWEVER the LAW does not require verbal notice in addition to signage. A business can ALSO verbally inform you of a no guns policy EVEN if it is NOT posted. Posting is NOT a requirement. Be sure you are clear on this. Sign OR verbal notice, both are valid.

I have not heard of anyone arrested for carry into a posted business unless there was additional disorderly conduct or refusal to leave when requested. My experience is most posted places are concerned about OPEN carriers (scaring people) not concealed handguns.

As an instructor, I DO NOT recommend ignoring no guns signs. Your permit will be suspended until you get everything cleared up. It isn't worth the headaches.

If you carry, carry legally.

So I haven't officially received my permit yet (I'm at work) but I called Arizona to see if/when they mailed it and the lady told me it was mailed on the 5th of Feb. Then my girl at home told me I have a letter from Arizona waiting for me. I'm pretty excited because on Feb 08th I picked up my California CCW. 2 permits within 4 days!

Congrats! When did you send it in?
I'm traveling to NV first weekend in March and would love to have mine by then... just the events I am attending are at the UNLV stadium so I can't carry there

FYI - I spoke to the head of the AZ DPS CCW Division a couple of days ago (2/10/16). They are getting a huge number of applications since the San Bernardino shooting.

Before Christmas we were getting a 1-3 week turnaround. They are now pushing the max 60 day processing times. There are only a couple of people who do the actual processing.

Be patient, it should slow as our snowbirds leave AZ. I call "Nov-March" - "training season," here. LOL By April our classes die for the summer.

It's good to know they are busy with so many people taking the responsibility of CCW.
The waiting is still a (temporary) pain.

Quick update on AZ CCW processing times:

Sent my applications in on 1/5 for both AZ and UT.

UT check was cashed on 1/10, so things seem to be moving along.

AZ check has not been cashed yet, so I called them to confirm that they had received my application. The lady said that they were just now processing appls. received on 12/28 and could not confirm receipt on yet to be processed paperwork. She said that I could expect the full 75 DAYS from processing to issuance. It looks like the wait is getting longer! Patience, patience!!

Can you point me to where it prohibits carrying in local government buildings? No firearms signs may be enforceable depending on the state, also your IA may have specific rules.
