They didn’t accept my HSC card.
Handwritten note that they would accept CCW training or hunters safety certificate.
I took and passed the hunter test online a couple of years ago , just never paid the fee.

Never knew you could take the hunters safety test online.
Pretty sure you CAN'T.
It is a proctored test, given by an NRA instructor.
Costs like $15.

That's interesting because they accepted my HSC when I got my AZ CCW some years ago. They must have changed their policy on this I'm guessing?

For those who have received their AZ CCW permit, does it have your passport-type photograph on it? Like the UT and FL permits.

- - -

By the way, even though the FL permit doesn't get me anything other than Florida, (which is not in my travel plans), the reason I got it is to support constitutional carry and states honor it. Only reason.

Another question.

With an AZ CCW permit, can you travel through the reservations while carrying? The reservations are 'sovereign nations', aren't they? With their own set of laws?

Generally speaking Reservations don't like OC, however, I've concealed on reservations and since concealed means concealed no one knows you are carrying so it was never an issue!

Very good.
I guess you didn't read the post before mine.

He said "I took and passed the hunter test online a couple of years ago , just never paid the fee. "

Hence why I called him out on it.
You can't take the hunter test online.( it is actually Hunter Education Program)

PS. it is CERTIFICATE not Card.

I don't know about using that for a CCW in AZ but you can't take that for a Hunter Education Program in California.
Which you need to be able to buy a hunting license in this state.
It is a proctored test, given by an NRA instructor.
They hand out a numbered certification of completion card that is registered with the Department of Fish and Game.

(We in California always have to have our own stuff. It makes the politicians feel better.)

Submitted online request for CCW documents to AZ CCW unit. The application, forms, fingerprint cards and a return envelope arrived in my socal mailbox in 3 days.

Completed all required forms and sent a copy of Front Sight 4 day defensive handgun certificate as my training off in the mail a few days later.

Had hard LTC card in my mailbox in 2 weeks.

Compare that to CA

Many UPS stores do it. Google the one local to you and call them!

Ok, passed (and paid for) the online course.
Just got home from the 4 hour class/test (passed).
Now to send it all again, this time with the HSC (Hunter Safety Certificate) not the HSC (Handgun Safety Card).

I'm waiting for my packet to arrive. Is there a class near Ione that would meet the requirements?

The whole thing about the AZ permit is that you can take the class online. I think that a Hunter Safety class may even work, though it has been a while since I looked.

Is there anything special to do with the fingerprint cards? Can you just get an ink pad and press your fingers on the appropriate square?

From what I've read the cards have to be done so they can process your prints. I'm just going to go to a ups store to have them done. Arizona's website says you have to use the cards they send you.

If they don't accept they just send everything back, then try again.
They didn't take my HSC (Handgun Safety Card) and returned the packet.
I've resubmitted with my HSC (Hunters Safety Certificate) at their suggestion.
Now awaiting their reply.

Ok, I found out this online course will not satisfy Arizona ccw for non residents. I'm just going to go to Nevada and get their ccw. Arizona will accept other ccw's for the training requirement.

Well, I started this thread 14 months ago.
7 months ago I send in the application using my Handgun Safety Card and was denied.
25 days ago I resent using the Hunters Safety Certificate and got the permit to carry a concealed weapon today.
Too bad I'm still on vacation and can't legally defend myself in public, I'm at home.

New to this site and I just received my CCW from Arizona.
Took the test at the Del Mar show and delayed a week to get the prints done.
Sent it in and today I got it in the mail.
They accepted my Ca hunters safety course.

Thumbs up The AZ CCW is a great first CCW, or a second or third.

The AZ CCW is a great first CCW, or a second or third.

I recommend it to anyone who is thinking about CA CCW.

An AZ permit is fast and easy to get.

I imagine that it is also helpful for those seeking other permits as it shows that someone else has vetted you and that you have lawful CCW experience.

Congrats!

Taking my class for AZ permit on the 12th of Nov. so hopefully I'll have the permit for Xmas. The class also qualifies me for Utah and Oregon. I'll send in for Utah but I'm not sure about Oregon. Then I'll start the process for my CA permit.

It looks like the only state UT gets you over AZ is WA. I currently have CA, FL and AZ but will probably not renew FL since that's the only state I get with it over AZ, and AZ is cheaper iirc.

Sent off my AZ packet the evening of Oct 7th, permit was in the mail on the 24th. Used my CA CCW as proof of training but threw in a photocopy of my Hunters Safety card as well.

From what I read there are some states that don't recognize a non resident AZ permit that will recognize the Utah permit.
