That really sucks that Nevada doesn't honor the permit anymore...

Just got my AZ permit today. Mailed application on Feb 3rd. Used my DD214 as fulfillment of the training requirement. Total time; 27 days.

Mailed mine on Feb 3, 2015 as well. Just for fun, I telephoned them to see where my application status was. She woman answered was (as per usual) a pleasure to talk to, said that they began working on it last week, there was a typo on my date of birth that she said she would correct right now. Gave no ETA (Which is expected really) other than if I do not hear from them in another 4 weeks to call back. A quick check on the status of the money order shows it has NOT been cashed yet.

3/4/2015 - Says application entered on 2/26/2015, "More information needed", said I will either receive a permit or a denial letter. (Odd that I am not a convicted felon, nor in any other denial class and hold an ACTIVE FFL as well as a CA DOJ COE).

DAY 29 for me and counting - And thus begins my weird trek with Arizona. *lol*

Odd that Nevada wanted to go the way of the O'Dingo. If (And a very big IF) that national reciprocity bill becomes law, nevada will just have to serve me my steak, while I happily sit with my secretly sequestered pistol in my IWB and my AZ CCW in my wallet, Gosh, I hope they haven't run out of diet coke and ice by then....

Get the AZ permit now. If 50 state carry happens, you will wait forever.

I went through a sit down 8 hour class in AZ a couple of years ago for their CCW permit. It was a great class, lots of good information. Although not expressed here, I find it curious that some people are so opposed to receiving formal training along this topic.

I don't find it curious, it is what it is, some of us got our formal training elsewhere. Taters and potatoes.

I don't find it curious either. Although I don't know if I'd call my training "formal". I never got dressed up for it in a suit and tie or tuxedo. :-)

Sent the email requesting the package today.
It begins.
There was a link earlier to an online course that was acceptable. That link didn't reference any online course, just face-to-face instruction.
Would a class like the basic (or intermediate) handgun class at California Shooting Sports be acceptable?

(Couldn't find my "hunter safety card" from jr high, so I needed a class)

http://www.azccwclasses.com/

Dps does accept this one for sure (just got my ccw using that credential). Current wait time about 6 weeks.

Also if you're anywhere near a live-scan fingerprinting place, dps accepts their "standard" fingerprint card & you're less likely to get rejected for "smudged" prints..
This is the link I checked. Saw no online course.

I recommend 5 Arrows. Good course, cheap, finger roller shows up, and certificate will specifically indicate AZ CCW...

Is 5 Arrows online or in person?
I'm in Modesto.

I thought I read on a thread here somewhere that AZ accepted a hunters safety training course.
I used my Cal CCW training course certificate.

Just for reference, before I applied to Arizona, I'd emailed them with several questions to CCW@AZDPS.GOV and their response time was quite good as well as their responses being very helpful.

Never underestimate asking an IA questions.

Ok, here we go:

App, fees, fingerprints cards, proof of training (Copies of California's Mall Ninja gun card) MAILED 2-3-2015

Application Entered into AZDPS system, 2-26-2015
Background complete FBI & AZ DPS: 3-06-2015
Permit issued: 3-07,2015
Permit arrived 3-12-2015

Not a bad turn around.

Now throwing all of my resources at support to national reciprocity.

I sent them a copy of my CA CCW, a copy of my CW training certification, a copy of my instructor's certifications along with the application and the finger print cards. Got the AZ permit in 3 weeks.

Can we paint a line from the Santa Monica at the Pacific ocean to Nevada through Needles and allow Arizona to annex us?

My son called and during the conversation he said my AZ application had arrived.
I get home tomorrow so can look it over and get the process started.
I drive to the mid-west every week and it will cover everywhere I go except CA and NV.
AZ, NM, TX, OK, KS, UT, WY, and NE are my regular route.

The reason why they don't is because Arizona does not require a live fire qualification!
