There is a difference between "enhanced" and a standard permit?

Because from what I found Idaho's permit is NOT accepted in any of the coastal western states or NV.
It even looks like it is accepted in fewer states than an AZ permit.

http://www.usacarry.com/idaho_concea...formation.html

Unless this map at the bottom of the page is wrong I will stick with an AZ permit.

Yes. Extra training mostly, including a few hours with a lawyer. The reciprocity map and info are here.

I *believe* that ID enhanced is only available to Idahoans...

Not a scam. I was in Arizona recently and made use of my permit. Unfortunately, I had to unload once I approached California.

Arizonans process is straightforward. It took me 8 weeks for mine. I drove to Arizona and took the class in Phoenix.

Man I hope mine doesn't take that long.
I used my California CCW training certificate.
I am 14 days into it.
Clock is running.

Effective July 1, 2013, a new “Enhanced” Concealed Weapons Permit became available. Applicants will have to meet the following requirements: a. Provide a training certificate approved by Idaho State Police that shows you have attended eight (8) hours of classroom instruction and have also fired a minimum of ninety-eight (98) rounds. The training must have been within the prior twelve (12) months of the application date
b. Provide completed and signed training Certificate of Completion.
c. Must be a resident of the state of Idaho for at least six months and must apply in the county in which you reside. Non-residents of Idaho may also apply, but they will need to have a current concealed weapons permit from their resident state.d. Must submit fingerprints with the initial application.

2. The fee is $41.50 for the initial application, with an additional $30.00 upon issuance.
3. The new permit is not an upgrade to any existing CCW permit and will be issued separately.

Wouldn't it be nice if it were one SIMPLIFIED and UNIVERSAL CCW for all 50 states that was SHALL ISSUE, no discretion if you can own a firearm and are not otherwise prohibited, you're good to go rather than having to collect CCW permits like my kids (who are grown now) collected pokemon cards. National reciprocity would be freaking awesome. If Cali-bonya is too expensive, get your CCW elsewhere, BAZINGA! Free market baby!

That would be great but with the huge difference between pro-gun and anti-gun views from state to state I can't see that ever happening.
Just look at the differences from California to Arizona with CCW requirements.
They are at such opposite ends of the problem I can't see a universal CCW ever happening.

I am going to apply for AZ CCW soon, just want to make sure CA hunter safety qualifies for training requirement? I read on website where it says AZ hunter safety is valid or hunter safety training from similar agency in another state.
Thanks.

I finally received my permit today.
It took from Nov 1st.
Not bad, 5 weeks.
It says issue date of 12/3 and good for 5 years.
Pretty cool.

Oh boy, is that ever true! Two very polar opposites!

I used to live in Arizona (And Oregon, and Washington, and a few others )

Am I correct in my understanding of the Idaho Enhanced license that they must be delivered in person vs. the information required (proof of training, non resident having home state CCW, finger prints) through the mail. Basically, requires a trip to Idaho. Been looking into Oregon CCW and also requires trip to OR.

Just curious: would my CA HSC qualify for this?

6. A valid current or expired concealed weapon, firearm or handgun permit or license that is issued by another state or a political subdivision of another state and that has a training or testing requirement for initial issuance.

I would not think it would.
You will need some sort of recent training course.
I used my Firearms Training Associates certificate for my Ca CCW as proof of training.

CALL the Arizona DPS CCW unit. The ladies there are very nice and they will answer this with certainty.

When I got my Az. CCP I called DPS CCW Talked to a great guy, told him I took a hunter safety course back in the 60's as a cub scout in Long Beach.
I was asked if it was signed and had a number on it. He gave me his cell phone number to send him a picture of the card. Got a call an hour later he checked with the NRA, the instructor was real and they had the record of it. Sent in my paper work and about 3 weeks got the card. God bless the NRA'S records!

Wow. $40 for the prints is a lot.
I think mine were $15 at the Costa Mesa PD.
