Default Turning 21, best place to test out a range of handguns?

I'm turning 21 in the next month and have been doing a lot of research on best CA legal handguns. I've got about 11 on my list so far but I want to narrow that number down by the time I get into the gun range this weekend. If anyone has recommendations on affordable places where I can rent a bunch of different guns, or would be willing to let me test some of theirs (I'll buy you a box of ammo) please let me know! My top 5 picks as of now are:

1. Glock 19
2. Springfield XD9
3. CZ 75 Compact
4. Beretta PX4 Storm
5. S&W M&P Shield

I'm looking for a good all around 9mm handgun, preferably polymer, affordable (<$600), in the compact range since I plan on getting my CCW permit as well. DA/SA, SA, or striker doesn't matter. Buying it for protection while in the mountains and for work (backpacking guide), but will use it frequently at the range as well.

I appreciate any advice any of y'all have!

Depends where you live. If you're close to oak tree gun club they have a wide variety of firearms you can try at the out door range

I’m assuming you live in San Diego, so the ranges that come to mind are:

The Gun Range (on Balboa Ave)
P2K Sports
Discount Gun Mart (they have 2 locations)
Poway Weapons & Gear

Wherever you go, make sure you look up their rental policy. Most ranges require that you have a group of at least two people, or bring your own gun. So if you don’t already have a gun, you’ll need to bring a friend along.

I think LAX Range in Inglewood has a good assortment.

I am a big fan of discount gun mart on Morena Blvd. I believe they have most of those for rent.

Iron Sites in Oceanside has most of those, maybe all of them. Go on a weekday to have the time and space to evaluate them.
