Default Crossman 392 PA - back in action!

BIL was going to toss into the garbage since it wouldn't hold air pressure or even pump up pressure.

I got it. Basically just took it apart and wiped all the oily sludge away - it was everywhere. Pretty sure he oiled liberally everywhere frequently. 12ga swap works great for cleaning the big tube.

No need for solvent just dry patch until clean - there will still be a light coat of oils and that's all that's needed.

Most people can't help themselves to use oil when not needed. So go ahead and get a drop or two on your finger and swipe all the seals then wipe them with a cotton cleaning patch. But you really don't need to unless you've gone and used a solvent to strip away the oils.

Seals looked fine. Rebuild kits are ~$20 if you are so inclined.

Put it back together and it works just fine.

Moral: maintenance and repairs are easy so DIY. DO NOT LUBE except very very sparingly - preferably with fully synthetic oil or lithium grease.

FYI the roll pins are beefy so a regular punch works fine if you don't have a big enough roll pin punch.

TLDR I got a free air rifle! 20 minutes effort.
