Long range scopes
What scopes and reticles are you guys using for working in the 300M-1200M ranges? I’m going to purchase a scope, I’ve got it narrowed down to the NF 7-35x56 new mil-xt reticle and the PMII msr2 reticle. I’ve considered the khales 525i msr2 reticle aswell. Can’t really find any info on the khales. Ive chosen the 2 listed above taking everything into consideration from weight to warranty. I ask because sometimes people will give a new angle ya may not have considered.

All three scopes are top tier glasses. You won't see much of difference in quality using them.
So, here's what you should go by. Reticles and then price difference. If I get to pick... I would pick S&B PMII > Khales K252i > ATACR F1. But with pick of my reticles. I would prefer SKMR type reticles. It may seem too busy on the glass, but it's not that bad in my own opinion. |

I use a Vortex Razor HD Gen 1 5-20 MIL/MIL with the EBR-2B reticle and love it. I hardly ever go above 10X, even at up to 1400y. Vortex really took good care of me with my first scope when I tightened the rings to 60 inch-pounds like an idiot and bent the tube. I even told them what I did, and once I sent it in for repair, they just sent me a brand-new replacement no questions asked.
I think I'll stick with Vortex for life. |

Vortex is a good company. Does anyone have any info on the S&B PMII DT scopes that had issues with grease splatter? The company switched to a different grease. I contacted S&B, they say they’ve corrected the issue. The problem is if one purchases a model that had the wrong grease prior to the correction. Opticsplanet has them on sale, no way to know if the sale models are good to go.

i had ATACR before my steiners. To my eyes, ATACR color is more vivid. my buddy have S&B PM II, sight picture looks more realistic. Everyone eyesight is different, pick the one your eyes happy with. The best way to test the scopes is at low light condition.

I use a S&B PM II 5-25x56 with H37 reticle mil/mil on a Surgeon .338LM. Great scope. Clear glass. Great scope, but the new warranty (as of several years ago) now stinks. It's only 2 years from purchase. Previously it was 10 years.
Never had any issues with splatter.

I use Nightforce, Leupold, Vortex and even a Weaver. Optics seem close enough not to worry about it when shooting matches since 99% of them are done in full daylight. What seems to matter the most to me is the consistency of the adjustments, I need to know that each click is 1/4 MOA or 1/10th of a Mil every time.

Have you tried snipers hide? There’s a thread on this scope. Also you should look at other vendors too. I personally wouldn’t shop at opticsplanet for high end glass. |

Because you can get better pricing and customer service from other vendors that specialize in high end optics like cs tactical, mile high, euro optic..... |

I want to go with the PMII 5-25x56 DT. I’ve read the manual for setting zero. Seems a little weird with loosening the cap, lift cap up past rubber o-ring, tighten set screws, fine tune to zero, loosen set screws, spin turret 2x in opposite direction of up, push turret cap down lining up “0” with indicator mark and tighten set screws. Can anyone confirm this is accurate? Doesn’t seem hard but does seem different than “normal”. I’ll be using a 20 MOA rail so I’ll be out of spec by S&B suggestions but should still have plenty of mild left for the creedmoor to work at max effective point target range.
