If you have a CCW Permit in California are there any issues of mounting a gun magnet in your car to hold your loaded weapon while you're driving? Also, am I the only one who can be in the vehicle with the loaded weapon if the weapon is not on my person?

Yes, it needs to be out of plain sight and hidden.
If you do use one, ensure it’s covered and well secured. I’d advise against a gun magnet but YMMV and IANAL. To answer your second question, yes, you have to be alone to have it off your person or in a locked container.

If the license holder is in the car, and his licensed gun is stuck under the dash with a magnet, and he has a passenger, no law is being violated. If he gets out of the car, yeah, take the gun with you or unload and lock it up. |

Well secured? No, see above. Alone? No, as long as it remains under your reach and control.

Well-secured was my opinion, given people do get into accidents, so an unsecured firearm cause additional issues if missing from the car. Again, YMMV.
Here’s what the law says PC25400: Quote:
For me, I’m not willing to gamble whether a rookie cop may care or not. If well concealed, might not even be an issue. But it’s certainly a gray area. So again, YMMV

Well secured and alone was matter of opinion. My mistake on that one. I discussed above in my earlier post.

Agreed. Everyone should act according to their comfort level.

What do you think will happen when a cop pulls you over and sees that magnet mounted gun? If he doesn't have good trigger finger discipline you will end up with a hole in your head.

I considered this setup for a while but my concern is that any kind of impact is going to dislodge the firearm. Thats not something I can work with, having read about the Miami FBI shootout.

If you get in an accident, do you think that gun is going to stay on the magnet or go bouncing around the car?
I suspect if probably depends on the accident. Say, 50/50. YMMV.

Keep it in the holster on your body. That’s the first choice.
