Do I need to have my firearm/s listed in my documents before aproval

Hello all , this is in San Diego .

I submitted my documents minus firearm/s intended to be on permit . Had my appointment with photo and prints taken 60-ish days ago . I chose not to include the firearm/s because I knew I had to qualify with each one and instructor fills that paperwork out .

My status is still pending processor assignment , I would have thought someone would have at least started the background check by now . Is it possible they are waiting on the firearm/s I intend to carry to check those as well ? If so I can upload the data for one real quick if need be to keep this moving along .

The SD thread may give you a better answer.

If you’ve done your live scan, you can check on the CA DOJ site. The SD has nothing to do with that part. They may be backed up as well.

You should upload the gun info if you can but I doubt it’d make a difference.

Different IA, but as I understand it someone at sometime verifies that the pistols you want to be able carry belong to you. So it may slow the process down at some point. Is that why things seem to be lagging now? I dunno.

Did the app specify that section to be filled out by the Instructor? IIRC with my IA, the app is filled out initially, then the Instructor verifies that is what you qual with, then the Instructor fills out whatever he fills out to indicate a passing mark. But make/model/serial # had to be on the app first for the instructor to verify.

Yeah that’s what I’m worried about . I just looked at my copy of the app . In the firearm section it clearly states none .

If I upload the gun data . Should I make a copy of the app page and enter the firearm data or should I use a completely different and separate blank white paper .

I went ahead and copied the page from the app and uploaded that with a firearm on it .

No. You won’t do a firearms check until after you’re approved and do the shooting qualification.

You’ll want all firearms that you want added to your permit when doing the shooting qualification.

Honestly man, I would get your guns/serial numbers loaded and get your test done...and upload the certificate immediately upon completion. Also, expect them to ask you to re-upload latest and greatest utility bills if you used utility bills. To that end, I wouldn't even wait. As soon as you upload your test, update your utility bills.

I lucked out . My appointment was set for the summer 2023 . I checked for cancellations and got an appointment 8 months earlier then my original appointment. So my data is actually pretty up to date. It wouldn’t surprise me if they ask for updated docs though .

I shouldn’t have any issues testing and qualifying and don’t want to get the cart before the Horse .

This exactly. Don't worry about it until you qualify. Even then, after you get your permit, you can always go back and qualify with other firearms and then have them added to your permit.

Wait , my instructor said its only good for 30 days ??? I thought it was longer but not going to take a chance it .
